Nice job. You will enjoy the condition it will give your birds. Just one thing, watch out that you do not encourage hawks to land on the top. If they do, they will terrify the birds. I have given my own aviaries a part roof and a place of safety, in case they need it.

I was thinking about a bit of roof right enough, maybe just a couple of feet at the loft end. I will try and pick up a wee piece of unduline to suit.

I got it built by a local shed building company, they didnt make the best job of it to be honest and it needed a wee bit of sorting out but its all good now.

Babybird,

the best way for me to put it is as follows. If you have birds in an enclosed place, even with good ventilation and another lot of birds in an aviary, you will notice the differance. The outside birds will look much better. You will see it in their feathering, their eyes and their general demeaner. All my cocks are living in an aviary at the moment. The aviary is partly covered and there are box perches at the one end against a wall, where they sleep. They look to be in tremendous condition and they are never still.

After the young bird racing is over and I have made my selections for next year's widowhood team, they will all be moved to the widowhood loft proper, to settle down for the winter. My 5 stock cocks will be moved to the stock loft to be prepared for December pairing. All of them should be lean and fit by then and full of life and energy. For me, nothing else will do.

Thats the aviary up at last, one more job I can cross of the list.

Nice loft ally, and Aviary looks good to, this is not a critisism, but will the aviary not be liable to flooding? :-)

Thanks Pete, I see where your coming from re the flooding. It wont be an issue though as there is 4" of gravel from which any water can drain through.

Then 2nd from right is old birds.. 6 x 6 with corridor.. soon to have no corridor.. and be 6 x 9

Then the two to the left are 6  x 6 with corridor..

Spot on pal, well done  :), except I also have a hinged door on the left hand end of the corridor to close of the corridor and give me a wee 6 x 3 section or I can open the sliding section door to give them access to the front of the loft, make sense  :P
