gulkie Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 when i get chance i will draw up some plans. I think there needs to be a few alterations made to stop rain etc. Any joiners give me an idea what size timber, screws and ply etc they would use? Thanks frame 2x2 dressed pine marine ply 1/2 " mineral felt for roof galvinised hinges x bolts i would rather see the pitch of the roof run back, and the ventilation top & bottom i think the 2nd lot are to closed in ,apart from that stunning boxes. u have opened a can of worms ,i can assure u the tool boxes will be out when they all return from blackpool ;) ps treat all wood with a good sealant[cuprinol ect] good luck wullie

OLDYELLOW Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 tidy kit boxes think only alterations i would want to see if a mesch bottom and perhaps a small chimley on top and perspex strip on roof to let light in then no reason birds wouldnt stay healthy
Guest BRYANBROCK Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 Brilliant idea they would be good for stock birds any idea what size they are ???? :)
Guest joshdonlan Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 around 4 x 4 x 3 foot, but you can adjust the sizes slighty depending on preference
Roland Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 Think great.... only concern would be Air circulation and how many one intends to house in them. My sections are about half as big again. House between 12 and 16 pairs. But then the air is constantly travelling through, around and out.
Guest joshdonlan Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 would house around 20 birds in a kit box. Would have a mesh door open during the day for ventilation
Guest joshdonlan Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 This idea with the double door, 1 mesh, 1 solid
demolition man Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 cracking mate think i might make a couple for me hens or better still get me mate to make them ;D ;D ;D

demolition man Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 im a joiner there very well made . to start to build these u would need to be skillful with wood, and a workshop ,or get someone to draw up plans with sizes and a list of matials, if ur handy at all, i dont see why it cant be done. realy depending on the wind it would be quite easy to get wet inside they would need to be in a sheltered area ?. :-/ price to get workshop to do this £150 try ur self do they have to be that elaberate.? :) LOOK LIKE THERES SPIKES IN THE GROUND DO YOU RECKON THE WIND WILL STILL BLOW THEM OVER?
Guest joshdonlan Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 Liked the idea of this origionally, but would need to be under cover :-/ Didnt like the price either

DOVEScot Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 dO YOU fly in comps Dunc mate? What strain do you have? No I only have them for pleasure, Chick wants to get get get rid of all the fancy etc so we can concentrate on the racers and cut back to one loft, I am keeping my Birmingham rollers, I have 20 pure whites, they don't roll as they should are over fed but I will be controlling that this year and see how good they are, I also have a pair of Irish tumblers
