greenlands Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 Decided the other day to alter the young bird loft and let a bit more air into it.Good or bad Idea or not, I'm half way there.I cut six inch off the top of the perspex window and fit some weld mesh ,then to stop the rain blowing in I fit a piece of sterling board along the hangover. Have I done right ? what's you opinion ? Lindsay.

Guest Owen Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 The more oxygen your birds get the better. You will notice that a lot of the top Belgium Flyers have weld mesh frames they can fit to the doors and windows during the daytime. Clean fresh air and sunshine are very important to keep your birds healthy.
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 i think its a gd idea i have a wire door on my young bird loft also have a big avairy for them and the rain can some times drive in the loft but they kept healthy in it and all looked the part

Guest youngzimmy Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 should have made it the whole window cant get enough air threw the loft i have three 6ft x 3ft weld mesh on one loft and two on the other and the doos are looking great
Shortcut Lofts Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 Great job Greenlands - I prefer to have plenty of air (not drafts) This year i have also changed the ventilation in the Yb loft. I covered the floor with 3mm aluminium perferated sheet - 5mm holes Hundreds of them and i drilled every one of them through the floor so now the air comes under loft through floor and out the new chimneys. Also helps cleaning, done in minutes. SL
