geordie1234 Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 Gid on yi Sapper bang on mate cause that's where many fanciers fail . Well Donewhat sort of prep goes on at this time like when do they start the molt etc and then they need paired up etc correct ??
JohnQuinn Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 Its not something you actually do with them George, its more a case of getting your doos through the moult as well as possible and ready to breed come December/January. Peace and quiet are the best things for them when they are heavy in the moult, with no stress put on them. Feed them as much as they will eat during the moult, then a month or so before you pair up start getting the hens in a good fit condition to lay and rear yb's. I personally don't bother the Ck's as they will lose excess fat reserves when they pair up and start driving their hens, and fighting with everything that moves when their libido is sky high!! I'm sure there will be differing opinions on how to handle your doos during winter but keeping things simple is the best method for me.
