Young Birds Training

have decided to keep my young birds training to 10 mile s,

for various reasons theprice of fuel being one also cuts the risks down of the usual things encounter on the road

ie hawks , wires , clashing , bad weather .

young birds should be fit flying at home so these 40 mile chucks twice a day that you read about are not needed.

ive picked a point in the fed where the birds need to break from

any one else tried this cheers stuart

We have a huge problem here in Fife, as we need to do around about 80 miles for a 20 mile training toss. So i,m in the same thinking as yourself, pick the line of flight and a break point, and train them from there. We also have the firth of fourth in our way and when the young guns first encounter it, they take ages sometimes hours just flying back and forth until they find the confidence to cross over. Its about 7 miles wide, so its a big ask first time for them. They soon get used to it though. All the best, it,ll be interesting to find out how they go.

as much as i hate training i have to do it on north road only tained ybs to 10 miles but surely when ranging they'd be covering this distance anyway i train my ybs 2 x 5 miles 2 x 10 miles 2 x 20 miles 3 x 30 miles then ready fer racing :)

My young birds are not trained futher than 12mls unless someone will take them, they have had 10x10milers and one 38mls when my mate took them.I'm just not up to going up and down the road twice a day which some do in my own club and are successful, but I managed to be 1,2 at the weekend with this training,it seems to suit my birds.atb.
