If there is no one close by we are happy to keep it in a box for a few days, see if it heals then try to release it. We don't have any experience in keeping birds though. We've given it water and the only thing in the cupboard on the list, white rice, is white ok? It has a cat bite on the breast and I think the wing is injured. It came into the kitchen earlier and made us smile - then five minutes later we heard a scuffle which we managed to break up and that's when we intervened. I can see now, from reading the site info, that it was probably tired and hungry.
