Are you going to watch the lib?

You've put up some great photos in the past

Yes.. I'll certainly be about and, weather permitting, I should have pics. I hope the weather stays fair for the morning .. its a fine settled evening at the moment and the forecast isnt too bad ... I've been along and seen the lads and wished them all the best.

I honestly didnt think they would have been up last Saturday it was such a poor day, temp down to 8c, a howling gale (thankfully a tail wind) and 100% cloud cover.. I understand you had a very good race with good returns so I'm relieved for you!!:)

my first lerwick...i've sent 2. looking at the wind it looks like 'on the nose' all the way. i'm one of the most easterly lofts in it...so i'm not expecting a bird on the day...i'm hopeful for sunday though

at the club tonight they were saying the birds used to be held in aviaries???...is that true/still the case...or are they still on baskets on the transporter?? thanks for the weather info :)

The birds have never been held in aviaries in my recollection, always arrived in baskets and held in the transporter as normal, There have been times when the stray problem has been very bad from a bad lib and the numbers have been so high that we have had to rig up a temporary aviary just to hold these strays before repatriating back to the mainland.. its been a few years since we had a bad one this end, so keep the fingers crossed!

Cheers from the far north :)

whats the chance of a lib this morning at lerwick sent with nrcc

Posted

Would'ent get a better chance today. A lovely morning south off norfolk spoke to some of the rigs 70mls further north light wind clear vis. Weather chart says its stronge sw winds on monday.come on cut the strings.

Sqeaker/ Blue lad... Its pissing down here in Lerwick with thunder and lightning and gale force SE winds as I speak... if you want your birds lost then that's the way to go..

I dont think there's a cat's chance in hell of a lib today... look after your birds, you've taken long enough to get them to this stage and years work would be lost to chuck em up now.

No probs, Yes I agree about the weather! We were down in 'Darzet' for a couple of weeks early June and had a great time. I would easily retire down there

if this is of any good to you lads im on the shearwater platform just now 130 miles east of dundee and the weather at 07.42 is wind south easterly 166 degrees at 13 knots

temperature 13* degrees & rising to a max of 20*

visibility 23 miles + cloud cover 7 / 8 so very good

cloud base at 10.400 feet also in the birds favour and sunshine

humidity is down to 57% not to bad

QNH air pressure is 1019 so high pressure not moving with any significance

no rain forecast for this area and no lightning warnings either in the next 12 hours

all the best folks n good luck

I thought I knew how to post a pic!

He He! Just a normal Shetland midsummers day :)

SW wind generally warmer up this end, I guess its coming more off the land rather than a cold North Sea at 11 or 12c. One of the conclusions I've come to in the course of my life is that you cant change the weather.. Other conclusions are: Friday comes around quicker the older you are and women have a completly different ethic when it come to shopping than we men...
