Guest cloudview Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 thanks for reply strapper , im not worried about ybs , that will be done and dusted by the weekend as in other years there,s only afew in team that show any symptons , but old birds are bred and fed for the job and look and feel immaculate and normally laugh at these distances , saying that there were a lot behind me

Guest cloudview Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 cheers strapper , thats reassuring news , sorry about your losses , hope they eventually turn up and live to fight another day, ive always said you need agood strong team about you when channel racing kicks in as one or two bed races can put a lot of years work back to square one , sprinting now thats a different kettle of fish 6 to 8 good ones cocks or hens would be ample, unless your a big team flyer
Tony C Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 I suspected I had it one year with my old birds. Cant remember what the droppings looked like but do remember their crops felt spongy. What I done was give them all a Spartican worm tablet each, to make them throw up the contents of their crops then starved them for 24 hours. They were right as rain within a couple of days.
Guest strapper Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 i use iodonised minerals by kirkpatrick its got charcoal in it keeps most yb sicknesses at bay hi spike m8..i think there is sulphur in charcoal?..maybe wrong....but sulphur is used in a few medications for sicknesses of birds..i believe one is for going light..as i said i maybe wrong.

Guest redlad24 Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 yep there is sulphur dioxide in the cider vinegar, is that any advantage, bn told that the cider vinegar has to be from a health shop?????
Taylorsloft Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 they have cider vinegar in water as we speak and have fed them layers pellets , easy on digestion and if any do throw up in the night at least others cant eat it this fennel tea where,s the best place to get it from, do supermarkets sell it yes i no morrisons have it
Novice Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 yes i no morrisons have it It will be no use to you but the herb Fennel is very easy to grow.If left unattended it will take over your garden.I believe the seeds are dried then breweed into a tea.I tried adding some of the leaf to pigeon tea last year but saw no difference in the birds.
Guest cloudview Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 all sorted now back to normal flew good hour this afternoon, did,nt get any fennel tea , found some nystatin in kitchen cupboard , but will ask mrs next time she goes shopping to get some
Guest Davy Fleming Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 NO CHANCE of getting nystatin over the counter. Better to get someone going abroad to get it for you as just got 120ml for £6 last week. But will cost you approx £17-£18 from vet for 30ml or only other option is if the wife can get it from the doctor
Guest IB Posted June 12, 2010 Report Posted June 12, 2010 Sulphur compounds too in both the brassica family, e.g. cabbage, and garlic. They are natural antibiotics.
