karl i told you mate too maney fish in it they need more room than you have mines 24x12 and 18 x 10 so some off them would be far better here hope youer well mate

nice fish how deep is the pond and do you need a filter or does a water fall do the same job asking because im half way through digging my pond out its about a meter deep 16ftx 8ft and the plan is to put in a water fall??????

It depends on what kind of fish you intend to keep.

A good idea is to have a bottom drain feeding the filter and not a pumped feed. You get better filtration that way. The return from the filter normally flows back to the pond via a waterfall. This helps to oxygenate the returning water.

Scottish winters can be really cold (even in Newmains)and the fish like a really deep section they can lie in during winter.

If you don't do this some kind of cover to keep the frost off would be good.

I would visit Bradshaws as there is likely to be good advice there.

You may also wish to join the BKKS there is loads of advice there.

Fishponds are great but I filled mine in when grandchildren appeared on the scene.

I was going to have a pond built in the back garden but not sensible with the kids so bidding on a 4ft tank on ebay at the moment.

 

Suspect your Koi are nearly bigger than that tank though
