DOVEScot Posted June 18, 2010 Author Report Posted June 18, 2010 http://www.slide.com/r/hD6DvyAOxD9ClUhvUpVcUMABW9QzpGnQ Brilliant, maybe we should adopt some crows for our lofts to ward off hawks
Guest Owen Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 When I was growing up, my parents used to rear chickens, ducklings and goslings. All these birds had to be protected from the carrion crows. They were always a threat and my father used to construct runs so that the young birds could not be got at.Then there was the trouble we had with the sheep. Carrion crows would attack the lambs when they were most vulnerable, just after they were born. They often took the eyes out of adult sheep and lambs. My father used to take his gun when he went around the farm and woe betide the crows and other pests. He had a list of creatures he would shoot on sight and crows topped his list.Adult Carrion Crows can and do chase Sparrow Hawks off their kills.

eastcoaster Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 can`t see a crow catch a pigeon unless injured , the brothers a game keeper and tells me they will rob your loft of young out the nest, but they are`nt fast enough to pick out a adult bird , and they do chase the bop`s from their nesting area ,
