Your missing the point, I logged on to see an unread message from Ian McKay in my mail box, when I went in it was a message I already opened and replied to on the 4th of May so there must be a problem in the system with Pm's. Then I tried to pm Fifer about it and I could not send it so I posted it on the boards :(

I got the same problem, think they need to get the web guys in to sort the problems once and for all, next thing to happen will be advertisers pulling the plug on their Ad's, then the site is finished. Pity though, i like it, even if it is a struggle at times.

more problems with the site should of just left it alone the old site was better even when it wasnt up to full speed.I dont think they took members into considration when they made this site 10 times worse than what it was.Just look at the decline in members through there own fault not ours.

You must have a very short memory, the OLD site could not cope with the membership, and the members demanded change, so now we have in my opinion a more modern and effective site, I honestly don,t believe you have a clue, of all the hours and hard work admin and moderators have put in to get the site improved, many members have posted their appreciation and commented on how better the site is, which is a pat on the back to the team for their efforts, but then you always have people who are never happy, and constantly complain, I am sure every club, federation has them, they can all do better, but never step up and take on the role them selves. I am sorry if this seems a tad negative, but constant knocking the admin/moderators does not do anyone any good, and if people are not happy, they have the choice as to whether they come on or nothttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif

This is simply my opinion, and one from a PB member who thinks the current set up is a move forward, http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif

All jokes aside, I think this site is more modern and yes we have to move with the times, everyone concerned has certainly done well with re-vamping here, few teething problems but will soon be sorted I'm sure. Everyone just needs a bit of patience to work around to get used to it :)

Like the site, Like the new messnger system. Have been on other sites lately that are the same as old basics and it seems a bit tired really. The crack is quite good(tho sumtimes near the knuckle) on these sites but thats just cause old members from here are now on there. They presumably disliked change!

Cheers steven

The old site started having problems when Richard left or lost interest, personally I think the old site was better but this site is improving all the time. There are some great moderators on here and in my opinion some that do not do justice to the site, when I first joined in 2006 the same arguments were in force

The site boasts of having over 10,000 members yet could not cope with just over 100 on line at the same time and endless problems with Pm's.

I hope the problem I had with my PM's gets looked at and sorted or we may end up in the same boat

right i know whats happening is after i sent i deleted the conversations as thought ended but also must disappear from the person you sent it too ;) so the answer there is dont delete currently used conversations / messages ;)

The old site was having many problems before Richard moved aside - much the same but not on the same level as it was in the end - Can assure though the problems in the end were software related and not really anything that could be controlled.

The PM issue Pigeon basics has is simply not limited to our site there are several forums with that supported software experiencing it still and they will continue to do so.

People maybe dont like the change we have made, for that im sorry but there was very few alternatives to us unless we simply started the site from brand new as we had to find software we could convert to and this one we are on now (although not to everyone's liking) is about the best we could find.

The members demanded the problems be fixed, its been done via the only possible way - No doubt there is going to be teething problems with this new site but things are moving in the right direction.

Im not really up on the site and the messenger etc as yet as with the net being off lost most of the time i wanted to learn it however from what i have just been told is that the issue is basically involving that it is a conversation and not a pm you are dealing with and when it gets added to it will show up again as unread and so on.

Maybe barking up the wrong tree but thats what was advised.

Also have to watch for people deleting etc before reading as Old yellow is in the habit of doing it at minute and sure others do as habit.

my pms are in a folder...i open them ..the message is displayed for about a second...then disapears. bound to be teething troubles...we've just got to stick with it. its the people/content that make the site not the software :) ...on the other hand perhaps we're in more trouble than i thought
