It really depends on the weather, and maybe the type of pigeon (sprinter vs long distance). This weekend the wind is in the north, its also pretty cold 10C max?, so around 3 hours seems reasonable.

This is an inaccurate way to judge (but hey is there an accurate way):lol: Lets say a pigeon fly’s 48mph in a no wind situation, if there’s a helping wind say of 10mph I add that to the 48mph giving a speed of 58mph but if the wind is on their nose at again say 10mph I half the wind speed and deduct that (5mph) from the 48mph giving a speed of 43mph.

Good pigeons will do at least 40mph in a middle distance race. But they can do up to about 70mph on a day with the wind behind them. So to make an educated guess you must take account of the wind. Side winds can have the affect of pushing them off course and slowing them down because they have to compensate for the extra distances they travel.

I use the ETS so that I am not caught out like that these days. My role is that of observing the traps and letting the cocks in to their hens.
