THE FIFER Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 lovely part of the country down there served at Deal with the Royal Marines in the 50s
TERRY JOHNSON Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 Hello Fifer, Have watched the marine bands at Deal, The wife & I go there often.I live about 8 miles away at Minster near Ramsgate. Certainly a very convenient place to live if you pop to France or Belgium --- I've only been probably half a dozen or so times in my life !!!. Do you remember much about the area?.
Guest Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 Terry I still have the video recording made by The Band of Her Majesties Royal Marines marching through Deal after the School of Music was attacked by terrorists. Guess I'f I'd have been born male I would have been a Royal Marine myself
frank-123 Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 fifer you told me you were 35 years old!!!!!!!!!!
TERRY JOHNSON Posted December 12, 2005 Report Posted December 12, 2005 Hyacinth, Small world eh. The Marines are not there any longer, the barracks have been converted to private dwellings.
Guest Posted December 14, 2005 Report Posted December 14, 2005 Terry, Yes it is a small World, I keep having to tell my America Batter half that RM means "Real" Marines <VBG> For many years I have had an interest in Music played by Military and Brass Bands. don't get much of it Stateside, but The Band Of The Grenadier Guards and The Pipes and Drums of The Royal Highland Regiment played a concert in Seattle about three years ago, they "brought the house down"
