superleeds Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 a question ask last night at the club during 3 way testing if we cant race this season and/or the pigeons have to be locked up in there lofts how many fanciers will there be when or if we can race again.the answers last night suprised me.
Guest Silverwings Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 good question to do a poll on leeds , i for one would ride the storm ? as would the majority of fanciers dedicated to this sport , a bit of good might come out of it ? give one or two the time to take a Look what they are actualy putting in those panniers ....ray
jimmy white Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 fanciers that love pigeons ,,,it might be" natures way" of solving a few problems in the sport , agree with silver wings , good one for a poll
celtic Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 I also agree that it will seperate fanciers from others, but to my way off thinking how many fanciers will leave the sport and sell their lofts ,equipment etc and not return ? How many will be prepared to wait a couple of years to restart in a worse case scenario ?
Chatrace Posted April 7, 2006 Report Posted April 7, 2006 We will need to get coustumes for them so they look like ducks. Buy web snapon feet and flat bills to go over there beeks. People will only think it is a flock of ducks going over :-)
ray Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 i haven't flown a race yet but keeping them in would kill me, i love to see them happy and clapping about, but not leting them out there would be alot would wrap in, in my area alone, loads of lads want to no have to win races as they sell thousands of pounds worth of younguns every year, it would certaintly kill the sport for the big men and all the studs as no one would be buying birds either
T_T Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 As we've all said, in the main this sport is not attracting younger people and there are a LOT of fanciers at the age of 60 + in this game, could they afford to wait extra years without letting them out, showing, the buzz of racing.? Myself ? However long it takes, I will always have my birds. Our first race today, Bring it on.!!
THE FIFER Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 A LOT OF FANCIERS ARE ON THE EDGE OF THE SPORT, IF IT COMES TO NO OUT OR RACING IT COULD MAKE UP THEIR MINDS FOR THEM AND WE COULD LOOSE A LOT OF MEMBERS, WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WITH YOUNGSTERS NOT GETTING OUT? MAYBE GETTING OUT FOR THE FIRST TIME WHEN THEY ARE READY TO FLY, OR EVEN RACE, JUST LET'S HOPE ITS A SINGLE CASE AND WE GET BACK TO AS NEAR NORMAL AS POSSIBLE,
pigeonchested Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 If our pigeons were locked up for a season . Would it affect the perigrine population in any way. Maybe some good would come of it. :
THE FIFER Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 not really there's plenty out their for them to feed on, wood pigeons, streeters, blackbirds, sparrows, doves etc etc,
pigeonchested Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 Good point Fifer I just thought that if they started decimating the songbird population the R.S.P.C.A. would possibly consider lifting the protection on the perigrines.
Guest Posted April 10, 2006 Report Posted April 10, 2006 Interesting thoughts in the thread: kinda breaks down into Business, Sport and Hobby! Your choice which ones likely to stay, which ones likely to go. Personally, wouldn't like to be without my birds; like others like to see them out; but if they have to be kept in for their own good ... fine by me, won't be forever, we'll race another day.
