square_peg Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 DO YOU THINK OUR SPORT IS NOW RUN BY FANCIERS WHO ARE NOW ONLY THINKING OF THEMSELVES AND NOT THE SPORT IN GENERAL
Guest Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 Would you mind saying what gave rise to your post?
jimmy white Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 definately [ lucky theres some good fanciers still about]
Guest jason Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 There's guys in our fed who think they own it, worse thing is others follow them! baa baa springs to mind!
THE FIFER Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 IF FANCIERS WENT BY THE RULE BOOK 100% AND HAD MEETINGS AND INSTRUCTED DELEGATES WHAT THEY WERE TO DO AT MEETINGS, AND THEN ALL OFFICIALS WOULD HAVE TO GO BY THE RULES, IF NOT U PUT THEM OUT, GOING BY THE RULES 100% IS THE ONLY WAY, IF A RULE IS THERE IT GETS USED, IF IT'S OUT OF DATE THE MEMBERS GET IT REMOVED, UNTIL THEN IT'S VALID. IF DONE PROPER AND THE FANCIERS DONE THEIR JOBS AT MEETINGS AND DELEGATES WERE INSTRUCTED ON HOW TO GO ABOUT AGENDAS AT FED OR UNION MEETING THEN NO OFFICIALS WOULD HAVE ANYMORE POWER THAN IS GIVEN TOO THEM, BUT UNFORTUNATELY ORGANISATIONS BREAK THE RULES TO SUIT THERE NEEDS AND THE MEMBERS ALLOW IT, MAKE THEM GO BY THE BOOK IT'S THE ONLY WAY.
Guest jason Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 I agree fully, but over half the fed seem to take orders from a certain few! : > its absolutely crazy
square_peg Posted April 30, 2006 Author Report Posted April 30, 2006 RE BRUNO I THINK SOME FOLK IN 'POWER' THINK THAT THE SUN SHINES OUT OF THERE A**SE WE HAVE THEM HERE WHO ARE BRILLIANT FANCIERS IN THE SNFC , THING IS THE SNFC MADE NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND.DONT WE ALL JUST WANT TO RACE THE DOO.S , HAVE A BIT OF 'CRACK' ON BASKETING NIGHT .IF WE DONT WIN ON RACE DAY 'THEN THE CALL BIRD COULD HAVE WON IT' SHAKE THE WINNERS HAND ALLWAYS . BUT NEXT WEEK ITS MINE. MAYBE I'M BARKING UP THE WRONG TREE BUT I THINK WE SHOULD BE HELPING EACH OTHER WHEN EVER POSSIBLE I HAVE BEEN IN THE DOO'S FOR 40 YEARS NOW AND I HAVE ALLWAYS THOUGHT THAT WAY
swilcox Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 In my mind there are too commitee members who been there for years and no longer race pigeons and are out of touch!!!!! Do away with commitees vote one man every year who sets the options and every members votes on them "simple as that". Rule by commitee doesnt work.
Guest Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 square -peg,i could not agree with you more,at the end of last year my wife had a stroke,& i decided right away that after having the birds for 40 years i would give them up until i was sure she was on the road to recovery. i was prepared though for the reality that i might never be able to have pigeons again! luckily my wife appears to be making a good recovery, with not too much lasting damage. i must therefore admit that over the last couple of weeks with the start of the racing season,i am having feelings of missing the birds & have given serious thought to restarting in a much smaller way at the end of this year, but my big worry is that certain people in authority within the fed i would be flying in,clearly have their own agenda for themselves and their own pigeons and for the few disciples around them. clearly things have changed since we started in the sport, some for the better, but a lot for the WORSE! ALL THE BEST BILLY
Guest Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 Honestly can't say that I've had experience of 'tin god officials' in my club or fed. Both are very well run and quite progressive. Fed President is a national winner too, very approachable and gets things done. He has a very similar motto to the one already quoted 'we're not here to stop people flying their doos'. But you can't lay blame on officials, because its members who elected them AND re-elected them. Agree 100% with Fifer. If members took more active part and attended more meetings, made their views known and voted ....
Pompey Mick Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 The trouble with pigeon fanciers is that this sport is a time consuming occupation and many fanciers either just haven't got the time or can't be bothered to spend the time on the administration side of the sport. We get the leadership we deserve by our apathy. I am just as bad, with a full time job where I am away from home for 12 hrs a day I find I am loathe to spend a large part of my valuable weekend leisure time in attending Federation meetings. I do my bit by being Secretary of my Club but there are things happening at Federation level which I have to accept because other people are putting theirselves out and attending Committee meetings and obviously running the Sport in a way that they feel is right for whatever reason and until I show the same committment to the Sport I have to go along with their decisions.
THE FIFER Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 it's the only way bruno, and swilcox if u use ur delegates properly (AS MESSANGERS) the members would be running ur organisations as should be not the committee, if the committee or officials are doing so it's because the members are allowing it.
peterpau Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 Fifer. Tiz true, this sport of ours does seem to follow a strange and twisty road. Sticking to the rule book doesn't always get the right results either. If someone can explain to me how the NFC can publish a north rd program. On the strength of which, I paid for my son to join. Then promptly do an about turn. Having taken my money. In principal I should be offerd my money back. Only there's no rules been broken.
THE FIFER Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 don't want to go into name's etc, but if a rule is in the book it's in force, if it's out of date, or no good get it removed, if a new rule needs putting in get it in.if the majority members vote against this one way or the other then that's it. u go by the rules as in the book
square_peg Posted May 1, 2006 Author Report Posted May 1, 2006 I AM NOT HAVING A DIG AT ANYONE OR ANY ORGANISATION THIS THREAD WAS STARTED TO HOPEFULLY MAKE US THINK AND ALL REALISE THAT NOW MORE THAN EVER WE SHOULD ALL BE DOING WHATEVER IT TAKES TO KEEP RACING OUR DOO'S WE ALL SHOULD TAKE MORE INTEREST IN MEETINGS ETC WE ALL SHOULD BE WILLING TO HELP WITHOUT BEING ASKED WE ALL SHOULD BE THINKING ABOUT THE DOO'S WE ALL SHOULD BE PULLING ON THE SAME END OF THE ROPE
THE FIFER Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 that's it square peg. and pompey ur right if u do not attend meetings then u must accept what happens by those that doo.
Guest Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 I'M SAYING :X :X :X SO I DON'T GET THE BLAME OF CAUSEIN BOTHER :-/
peterpau Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 I certainly feel I do my bit. I get home from collecting birds for the fed friday night at about midnight. Then I'm at work for 5 am Saturday. I put the work in, but you just can never tell which way things are going to turn. In the present climate you just don't know how things will change. I can't help but think if you attend meetings surely you must come out and think I wonder how they came to that conclusion. I do have my say but I have to accept the majority decission too. I don't always get my own way but I do put in the work.
Guest Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 WE ALL SHOULD BE PULLING ON THE SAME END OF THE ROPE Not if there's a 5 gallon pail of sh** tied to the other end !!!! ;D ;D
Guest Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 I am very happy with our National Organisaion the AU and we don't fly in a combine here so no problems there BUT what in my opinion is causing a decline in the Sport is the BULLY BOYS. There is currently a case in California where a member had been refused membership of a club because he bought his house from the wrong Estate Agent, didn't use the member of the club he was going to join. One of the excuses they are using is that they don't want him in the Club because occasionally in the past he has taken his Downs syndrome daughter to marking up. Until we get rid of this sort of S**t behaviour within our ranks, the sport will never prosper.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 I THINK IT IS A DISGRACE HYACINTH THAT ANY CLUB COULD EVEN SUGGEST THAT A PERSON COULD NOT JOIN A CLUB BECAUSE THEIR CHILD HAS DOWNS ,I HOPE THE FLIER IN QUESTION IS TAKING SOME KIND OF LEGAL ACTION.COULD YOU POSSIBLY KEEP ME UP TO DATE WHAT HAPPENS IN THIS CASE BECAUSE IT TOUCHES HOME A LITTLE BIT.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 I'M SAYING :X :X :X SO I DON'T GET THE BLAME OF CAUSEIN BOTHER :-/ IF THEY KEEP BLAMING YOU EVEN FOR NOTHING MAYBE THEY'LL GET OFF MY CASE.
Guest Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 AND WHAT CASE IS THAT THEN :-/ ;D ;D ;D ;D THE MYSTERIOUS CASE OF THE LOBBY JOBBY ;D ;D ;D ;D 5 Lanarkshire lads crashed out one night on the floor after a night on the bevvy. Next morning the 5 Lanarkshire lads woke up facing one giant turd .... WHO DUN IT?????? ... Case never been solved this past 20 years ............ :X ; D > ;D ;D
