Guest TAMMY_1 Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 WHAT DO THE FANCIERS DO WITH LATEBREDS, IF THEY TAKE ANY, THAT THEY INTEND TO USE FOR RACING.
Guest speckled Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 :X :X :X Just wondring weather to answer, ;D ;D lol Tammy-1. What would you call a "latebreed" ? But i dont uasllay breed a second round of y/b as i like to train all mine at the same age.& moult at the same. Othefs might have a diffrent opion. But if i was to have a team of latebreed breed for me i think i would see if i could get some training in & a few later races, them see how thay flew as yearling. Hope ya followed the line of this post ;D ;D ;D . dreading the answer here :X :X Speck
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 A GOOD JOB YOU DID ANSWER NOBODY ELSE WOULD HAVE!!! WHAT I TERM AS A LATEBRED IS A YOUNG BIRD THAT IS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO CATCH THE RACING.AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO DREAD THE ANSWER I'M ONLY GOING TO ASK IF YOU WENT TO SCHOOL.?DID YOU SEE THE PHOTO?
REDCHEQHEN Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 I have limited experience with any age of pigeon but this is my experience: there seems to be differing opinions about late breds. Some fanciers I know get their best results from them. Were given some 8 latebreds August 2004. Most were lost during racing 2005, had one left did the full inland program last year, but didn't score. Lost from 1st race this year. 2 of our own latebreds 2005, bred from our only winner - lost off loft before training started this year - so very negative experience from me. I wouldn't want any latebreds again thank you....
Joe90 Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 if you have late breds then give them loads of training or you will be disapointed as yearlings and will lose them
jimmy white Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 theres an interesting poll. post on latebreds on page 2 racing pigeons
keano Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 i always thought a late bred was reared after the old bird season had finished.
Guest shadow Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 In my experience latebreds are OK if you want them for breeding but racing them is a different ball game you can give them as much training as you like but if they hit a bad race as yearlings about 80% of them will go down
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 shadow my friend over the fence from me sent six latebreds and two other birds to our race on saturday which was a great day he never got any late breds that day he got one on sunday and he is still five short and i think that validates your post even .though this was a great racing day
Guest speckled Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 Tmmy -1 :X :X well like i said i dont have late breads as such, :-/ but my only one latebread that i did rear ;D been to 2 races & has been my first pigeon in the clock both weeks, ;D ;D erned himself 2 x 4th card so far.& hope that not a younger version of yourself that pic, was it, then that not cute ;D ;D ;D ;D Speck :X :X

Joe90 Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 this year i have had a 20th fed with a late bred out of 2000 birds, but they had a bit of training last year
jimmy white Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 i also have been lucky with latebreds, i really think theve got to be nursed till 2yo had a latebred never raced as yb, 3 races as yearling then dropped it came home the following wed, kept it for a fortnight ,sent it again ,was my second bird, this was about150 miles, stopped for the season ,as a two year old won in excess of 1000 pounds [maybe exeption to the rule, but this bird won untill it was 4 yo , i then gave it back to my friend who bred it]
