sapper756 Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 JUST WONDERING IF ALL FIFE FANCIERS ARE KEEPING THIER BIRDS IN, FOLLOWING THE RECENT BIRD FLUE EVENT. AND HAS ANYONE HAD OFFICIAL WORD TELLING THEM TO DO SO?
mealybar Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 It is one of the restrictions imposed on anyone within the Risk Area.
schouwman71 Posted April 10, 2006 Report Posted April 10, 2006 not sure but i think they still went ahead and had there first race saturday 8th april, also heard it on the radio aswell.
dandydoo Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 What Fifers had a race, if fanciers dont do what the LAW of the LAND says then we will all cop it. Notice that FIFER says some are still not accepting that they must keep them in. They are puting whats left a short season at risk
Westwater Assassin Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 As far as i am aware neither The Fife Federation or The Kingdom Association had any race on Saturday !!!
Guest Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 no fife race on the 8th,wild bird zone keep them in thats it :-/
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 THERE WASN'T ANY RACES IN FIFE OR ANYWHERE. RACING STARTS ON 29TH APRIL BUT THERE IS AN OPEN RACE FROM DALZIEL THIS COMING SUNDAY FROM KELSO.THIS IS ONLY FOR THE LANARKSHIRE FEDERATION BUT I THINK FIFER PUT ON THEIR RACES AND THEY START ON THE SAME DATE AS WE DO.
Westwater Assassin Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 Fife Fed & Kingdom Association were meant to start racing on the 29th April. I've not had any official word saying that i can/can't let my birds out or that the racing has been cancelled. Would it not have been alot easier if the "POWERS THAT BE" sent out information to "ALL" members about the current situation, a few simple do's & don'ts would have been enough ?????
Guest Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 IF YOUR A SHU MEMBER YOU SHOULD GET WORD SOON,DEFRA ONLY TOLD THE SHU YESTERDAY. :-/ NEWS ABOUT THE WILD BIRD ZONE WAS ON THE TV ON THURSDAY. http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Resource/Doc/915/0026441.pdf NOT JUST FIFE BUT PARTS OF DUNDEE AND ANGUS
dandydoo Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 Take it the rpra and shu are telling their members
square_peg Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 BIG HEAVY LETTER DROPPED THROUGH LETTER BOX THIS MORNING KEEP DOO'S IN FROM SCOTTISH EXECUTIVE VIA SHU SPOKE TO RPRA MEMBER IN FIFE WHO STAYS 2MILES FROM ME AND IS STILL IN THE WAR ZONE THEY HAVE BEEN TOLD THEY CAN LET THERE DOO'S OUT TWICE A DAY JUST DONT LET THEM SIT ON HOUSE ROOFS
fifestay Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 According to Letter they cant ...stupid could jeopardise it all for all of us ...is this advice from RPRA ...DEFRA will have told them the same
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 I THINK COMMON SENSE SHOULD PREVAIL HERE AND IN THE INFECTED AREA MEMBERS SHOULD KEEP BIRDS IN WITHOUT HAVING TO BE TOLD. I DO FEEL SORRY FOR FLIERS THEREAND ALLTHOUGH I AM NOT IN A RESTRICTED AREA BUT IF I WAS I WOULD NOT HAVE TO BE TOLD TO KEEP MY BIRDS IN I WOULD NOT EVEN CONSIDER LETTING THEM OUT.IT WOULD BE DEVASTATING TO LOOSE ALL YOUR BIRDS IF THEY BROUGHT THE VIRUS TO YOUR LOFT.I KNOW ALL THE FLIERS IN THE RESTRICTED AREAS MUST BE FEELING VERY DISAPOINTED BUT WITH A BIT OF LUCK ALL WILL BE WELL IN A FEW WEEKS , BUT IT WILL LIKELY FEEL LIKE AN ETERNITY TO THOSE HAVING TO KEEP BIRDS IN.
fifestay Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 We have always had the possibility of restricyion i.e. thru Newcastle disease containment legislation
THE FIFER Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 WELL SAID TAMMY IT'S BEEN IN THE PAPERS IT'S BEEN ON THE TV, WE SHOULD KNOW TO KEAP THEM IN
Guest Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 Fife, can't read your letter. is there any chance of big letter to scan ?
THE FIFER Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 those who let their birds out during the restriction can be made to isolate them for 3weeks.
Guest Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 seems like the kingdom members are in law of their own lots of birds reported out tonight.
Guest Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 seems like the kingdom members are in law of their own lots of birds reported out tonight. Just wondering if they have had any guidance? The last Peter Bryant had to say about the situation up here was on 6th April and it could be read many ways:- The crux for pigeon racing, until I hear to the contrary, is that there is no change to the situation. The DEFRA Contingency plan, as you will see below, has kicked in and the Surveillance Zone is in effect. This will restrict movements within the zone but does not exclude movement outside. Racing can continue until we hear otherwise and we (RPRA members) do not have any racing in this neck of the woods at present. Wondered when reading this if he knew he has RPRA members in this neck of the woods?
THE FIFER Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 THEY WHO ARE LETTING THEIR BIRDS OUT AGAINST ORDERS FROM THE SCOTTISH EXECUTIVE ARE LUCKY THERE ARE NO MORE REPORTED CASES, AS IF THEY DO GET MORE, THOSE BIRDS WHICH HAVE BEEN OUT COULD BE ORDERED FOR A CULL.
square_peg Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 I REALLY HOPE MY DOO'S ARE NOT PUT IN JEPARDY BY SOME A##E HOLES FROM THE RPRA AND THE KINGDOM FED THING IS THEY HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY CAN LET THEIR DOO'S OUT ISNT IT A CASE THAT THE GOVERNMENTS RIGHT HAND DOSNT KNOW WHAT THE LEFT HAND IS DOING. IF I WAS TOLD THE SAME AS THEM I WOULD LET MY DOO'S OUT ALL THIS IS DOING IS PUTTING FANCIER AGAINST FANCIER AGAIN
Guest Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Resource/Doc/972/0025828. PIGEONS still being let out in fife WHY DEFRA SAYS KEEP THEM IN
Guest Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 I mentioned in an earlier post that some flyers lost everything they had by not complying with Federal Regulations when several states had Exotic Newcatle Disease a couple of years back. If I was over the other side of the pond I would be making phone calls in order to protect my birds from these butt holes.
