frank-123 Posted June 13, 2006 Author Report Posted June 13, 2006 this is faulhouse club site Another Race with many birds again missing & on a good sunny day and a helping wind. Now many fanciers have called it a day - no birds to race. Lets get something done about it. South Flying Birds Race on Saturday - North Flying Birds Race on a Sunday. Give the birds the chance at all costs
David Swain Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Saturday-South, Sunday-North might be a start but it won't solve everything. In Dorset we had a very poor race from Sennen Cove with the NFC on Sunday given that it was a short distance, old bird race. We had only one of four on the day to be sixth section, our 2nd Open Bordeaux BBC winner of 2004 came early next morning and another three year old cock was reported in Ireland on Sunday night which suggests some clashing with the Irish birds at Bude. Just don't know what to make of pigeon racing any more ! A few years ago we would have expected 100 per cent in half an hour from that kind of distance and I am afraid I can only see the decline accelerating if this kind of racing continues.
swilcox Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Bart Clashing only happens when flocks of pigeons are flying at 90 degree to each other. Pigeons flying in oposite direction often fly at differents hieghts because of the wind and approach and pass each other so quick they dont have chance to engage. However if pigeon approuch from the side (East to West) they find it very hard to avoid each other, this is why the Welsh study the south coast liberations so carefully!! Regards Stuart P.S. I need to go to church on sundays!
THE FIFER Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 WELL ANDY THERE ARE A LOT OF BIRDS MISSING FROM SATURDAY FROM GOOD LOFTS AND AS I HEAR SOME 2-3 YO WINNERS GONE, I GOT 5 OUT OF 6, BUT A LOT WERE LOTS MISSING, I SAY THIS IS CLASHING,
bewted Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 this topic of clashing was being debated 20 odd yrs ago when i was racing or not, whichever, nobody has come up with any answers up to now, this will be an ongoing thing for future debates, but,no answers,,,,,maybe a quirke of pigeon racing and plenty of luck or not,who knows,,,ted
