peterpau Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 Dunno what you can do mate, but our club sec and me went to Walsall football stadium earlier in the year. He bought a pair of whites, and I bought one. Saturday just, he tells me, the hen is now living down the street, with the townies. Less than half a mile away
THE FIFER Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 THIS HAPPENS AND OK WITH THE AMOUNT OF BIRDS WE KEEP NOW A STRAY CAN BE IN UR LOFT AND NOT BE NOTICED, BUT NOT A WHITE ONE OR GAY PIEDS ETC, I HAVE 2 YOUNGSTERS GO AWAY FOR A NIGHT ETC AND COME BACK FULL OF GRUB, IF ANYONE GETS SOMEONELSES BIRD IN THROUGH IT OUT.
Fife_pigeon_wife Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 white , pieds, etc... dont often get repoted. i bred loads of whites a few year back and had a fly away of about 20 off the loft and only one ever came back , but noticed someone had TRIED to cut the ring off. BUT if it was a cheq , or a blue bar they'de be right on the phone wanting rid off it. how would fanciers and non fanciers feel if the tables were turned. If they want whites or coloured they should buy them like the rest of us, it does make you sick.
REDCHEQHEN Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 Reported a white one this morning and a pied yesterday both young birds, the colour doesn't make any difference to me - also reported a white old bird a few weeks ago - pretty but are they faster ? Needless to say they were all collected - nobody ever asks if you want the pretty ones do they ? Not that I would - no room at the inn (though it feels like a "drop - in centre " for strays at the moment) Personally I don't think it matters what the colour is, very few people report birds - even with wing stamps and phone number rings, its disheartening.
keano Posted June 28, 2006 Report Posted June 28, 2006 fifer if a bird comes in late the least you can do is feed it .
robert.sutherland Posted June 28, 2006 Author Report Posted June 28, 2006 nearly all my birds are blues and checks it was the first white id bred And more importantly my wife liked it and to find a bird that she liked as well was worth all the tea in china and to find it in a loft that Id helped in the past made it worse because both flocks fly together and a white stands out he must have known . .yours in sport BOB
