westburylofts Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT SOME 25 FANCIERS HAVE BEEN CAUGHT SENDING BIRDS BACK ACCROSS THE CHANNEL THE WEEK AFTER THEY SENT THEM TO A PREVIOUS RACE, ANY ONE ELSE BEEN TOLD THIS RAY
westburylofts Posted July 9, 2006 Author Report Posted July 9, 2006 Well i do not think that matters But i got a phone call from a good mate who said that this had happened. Just had a look on another site and it has been posted on there but not the amount of fanciers caught. Ray
kaybee Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 if this is true then the fanciers in question should be severely dealt with by the appropriate authorities, and I for one will have no sympathy with them whatsoever as this could stop all racing and not just from France
Pompey Mick Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 There are fanciers who rely on other fanciers to tell them what is going on in the world. I know of fanciers who were totally unaware of this situation until they arrived at the Club with their birds, there are also fanciers out there who are totally selfish and only care about their own situation. In my Club we only fly short distances across the channel and members want to race their birds weekly, We can monitor this at Club level, but it is impossible to monitor when members are sending birds to Nationals & Classics. It is also difficult when we have no domestic ruling on this and have only the threat of legal action through DEFRA to to call upon, It would have been much easier if the RPRA had announced that any fancier who fails to comply with this DEFRA stipulation will have his entire loft isolated for 21 days as a biosecurity measure. To safeguard racing in these difficult times we MUST be seen to comply with DEFRA regulations and act as responsible livestock owners.
speedbird Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 yeah i heard the same there from up north combine & around 22members been suspended for there silly anticts they could stop us all flying completely never mind stop the channel racing club should be checking for things like this at marking
REDCHEQHEN Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 The majority are actually from the West Durham Amalgamation not the UNC, and for sending to inland races within the 7 days following a channel race, not sending to channel races. All UNC Channel races are atleast 14 days apart. It is still no excuse whoever they are.
Guest Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 Agree with what's been said up to a point ... and that point is racing being stopped because of a few selfish & stupid people.. If one person breaks the law and is fined, the court doesn't fine all the other members of his family too. Same surely applies here... punish the guilty, not the innocent.
THE FIFER Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 IT'S PART OF THE CONDITIONS FOR RACING SO IT'S UP TO THE CLUBS FEDS AND THE GOVERNING BODIES TO DEAL WITH ANYONE NOT KEEPING TO THEM, THE GOVERNING BODIES DOES NOT HAVE TO PUT OUT ANY RULES AS THEY ARE THERE.
