I would just like to add what has happened in my club. The three top fanciers all who send between them 180 pigeons per week. granted this birdage is paying the club, but of the cost only 7p goes to run the club. These three fanciers are having a competition between them as who can clock the most in.. even if the bird will not make top 10 in club never mind fed. the rest of the fliers are mainly fanciers who may get a good one now and again.

This scenario is spoiling the club... Why because where do the workers come from...Not from these fanciers ill tell you..so what happens when the workers go to another club because they are rubbing their noses in it week after week.. this week at clock opening we had four members to strike clocks, open them read them and check them.... This what happened in our club due to overclocking...How many more clubs have gone this way. so when their are no clubs left to race in then will you be justified in saying if their birds are there to be clocked, clock them!

Yes Rose

I do believe that the result should be the true result but at what cost. This is why people get disheartened.

I recall a story a fancier from this site told me about his football days. He played for a very good club at amateur level and they drew a team from a lower division who had no chance of beating them. The team was approached by the secretary and he said " I know you lads will win and win easy if you play your best but if you do these lads will pack in", the team still won by taking it easy and it still meant the other team carried on.

Thanks for that Les I willalways remember that story as it is a great example of showing consideration and having common sense.

back in the sixties our club you could time in as many as you wanted but after 2 thimbles you were charged think it was sixpence or something to that affect. for everythimble over the 2

HOW MANY WOULD TIME IN MORE THAN TWO OR THREE IF THERE WAS A CHARGE PUT ON THE BIRDS THEY TIMED AFTER FIRST TWO BUT IT WOULD HAVE TO BE A FAIR AMMOUNT TO TRY AND DISSUADE THEM FROM DOING SO

funny thing I have noticed, the ones that time in lots, often, invariably fly in more than one club, and are exscused duties at them all.

I think a little common sense helps everybody enjoy there racing, we were in a position to take the first 10 last week but we only clocked 2 pigeons, this week we won it on a decimal so maybe god was a happy man with our good deed. Club flying is all about enjoyement and Nationals are made for competition.

If you are good enough to take the first 10 then club flying should be the last place to claim your glory!!!!!!

SURELY IF U PAY AN ENTRY FOR A BIRD GOING IN A RACE IT'S ENTITLED TO ITS PLACE, THE ONLY WAY IS TO LIMIT THE ENTRIES U CAN'T GIVE SOMEONE A PLACE IN THE RACE IF OTHER BIRDS WERE IN BEFORE IT, HOW CAN SOMEONE SAY I WAS 4TH OUT OF 200 BIRDS, IF SOME OF THOSE 200 WERE IN BEFORE HIM, ITS JUST MAKING A MOCARY OUT OF RACING, I KNOW THE YOUNG FANCIER WILL BE PLEASED GETTING A PLACE BUT DOES HE KNOW HE REALLY DID'NT. NO ENTRY LIMITS ARE THE ONLY WAY

don't say that Archie regarding entry limits.  shipping limites as they call them here are the bane of my life

Its true that in Holland the use of ETS can mean some flyers taking the first 30 positions but being that the ETS is just an extention to a clock it can be switch off!

I KNOW IT'S A HARD ONE BUT I WOULD NOT LIKE TO THINK I GOT A PLACE BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE WAS NOT ALOWED TO TIME IN, AND I DO NOT THINK IT GIVES ANY NEWCOMER ANY GOOD LETTING HIM GET A PLACE HE DID NOT, IF HE IS THAT CLOSE THEN HIS WOULD BE PLEASED WITH WHAT HE GOT, NOT ONLY THAT BUT WHAT IF UR ONLY ALLOWED TO TIME IN 3 BIRDS AND UR 4TH ONE IS A FULL PULLER.
