I THINK YOU WILL FIND THAT THERE ARE DIFFERANT LAWS THAT APPLY IN EACH COUNCIL,IF I WAS YOU I WOULD FIND OUT WHO IS THE RIGHT PERSON ON YOUR COUNCIL THAT DEAL,S WITH PLANNING ETC,AND MAKE A PROPER APPLICATION AND THEN SEE WHAT HAPPENS,I DONT THINK PUTTING A LOFT UP FIRST THEN ASKING LATER IS A VERY GOOD IDEA AT ALL.WHERE ABOUTS DO YOU LIVE AS THERE MAY BE FANCIERS ALLREADY IN YOUR AREA THAT COULD GIVE YOU ADVISE.I,M SURE SOMEBODY ON HERE WILL GIVE YOU THE ADDRESS OF THE SECRETARY OF A CLUB NEAR TO YOU.

MAYBY NOT IN YOUR AREA BUT IN MOST AREA,S IF YOU KEEP PIGEON,S YOU NEED TO GET PERMISSION OFF THE LOCAL COUNCIL,AS I SAID BEFORE DIFFERANT COUNCIL,S HAVE DIFFERANT RULES.

i rang them and they said you dont need any permission, so its best you do the same.

your house deeds are most important because if you live in a new house etc the your not allowed the keep pigeons and chickens etc

you dont need planning permision for a shed!!!!!!!!!

only for a building that is within 5metres of your house etc

thats what they told me

THERE WAS AN ARTICLE IN THE BHW A WHILE BACK ABOUT A MAN WHO WOULD FIGHT YOUR CASE FOR YOU IF YOU WERE TURNED DOWN BECAUSE AS LONG AS YOUR LOFT WAS A CERTAIN DISTANCE FROM THE HOUSE THEY COULD NOT REFUSE YOU AS LONG AS IT DID NOT SAY IN YOUR TITLE DEEDS WHAT YOU WERE AND WERE NOT ALLOWED TO BUILD

SURELY THIS WOULD ONLY APPLY IF YOU OWNED YOUR OWN HOUSE IF IT IS COUNCIL PROPERTY YOU HAVE TO ABIDE BY THEIR RULES.

I THINK THAT YOU HAVE ANSWEARED YOUR OWN QUESTION THERE KEN BY SAYING IT,S A COUNCIL HOUSE,I WOULD THINK THAT YOU ARE ABOUT 99.99% CERTAIN OF NEEDING PERMISSION TO HAVE PIGEONS BUT AS I SAID BEFORE THERE MAY BE OTHERS FANCIER,S AROUND YOUR AREA THAT COULD GIVE YOU SOME IDEA,S ABOUT APPROACHING THE COUNCIL AS THEY DO HAVE DIFFERANT RULES IN CERTAIN AREA,S THAN IN OTHER,S ALL THE BEST.

In leeds where i live i moved to a newish council house And i felt i should play safe and get council approval so i rang our local RPRA official and  he sent me the right forms but when i did apply the people at the council said they had not ever seen a form or herd of people asking for permission to keep pigeons so how many have got permission in leeds  Well at least i have I have herd of council s that provide yards for  people to keep pigeons even provide council  lofts this most be to stop people from keeping them in there gardens So all i can sagest is ask your local lads for best way to go about getting it right for your area

I live in a council house, I checked with them before I put my loft up they said it had to be 5 metres from the house, it can't cover more than 1/2 your garden and can't be over 8 feet high.

I started building at the top of the garden and worked towards the house remembering the 5 metre rule, I managed a 21 foot 3 section loft with no problems from the council.

I just put mine up and hoped for the best, and have been lucky as my neighbours dont seem to bothered about the birds. An old lady next door is always asking about them, and gets really worried if I lock one out and go to work, she has quite often come round and put some water out for any I lock out. But I do have a fairly long garden and my lofts were made to fit in with the garden and every effort was made to make them look like sheds.

i think u may be asking for trouble if u dont get permission first but then if your neighbours are ok and your loft isnt an eyesore u may not have any problems with them?

if birds are not left to run wild and are called straight in after excercise hopefully u should be ok regarding neighbours

the only problems i have with neighbours are the ones who seem to like spooking the birds when im feeding them in or when they are having their bath, unfortunately some people just dont like pigeons

     anyway i wish u luck
