Guest Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 hi how many of u still fly the natural system? seems to be much talk about widowhood but not much about natural?. i race natural myself and so do all my club m8s. wot r the main benefits of flying widowhood to natural?..any info would be appreciated....thanks ..paul.
Tony C Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 Think it depends on what type of races you want to win that will dictate as to what system you fly, it does around here anyway. I fly North Rd and 90% of our racing is up to 300mile. We fly sprint type pigeons and the w/hood & roundabout method is favoured by most. I do keep 6 pair of naturals for the longer couple of races we have though. To be honest I quite enjoy racing the naturals more so than the w/hood team but they cant live with the w'hoods up to 300mile. Horses for courses I think.
Roland Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 Seems to me that Natural is more than holding it's own. But I believe that it is the Health and condition of the birds... never mind the buzocks. I also believe that is part and partial of ALL ingrediants, like Contentment, love of home, incentives, motivation etc. All are needed to be a part as a whole to be healthy, and conditioned.
Guest Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 For training keep the birds together, but for racing they must be parted, be it old or young Feank Tasker
Guest speckled Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 For training keep the birds together, but for racing they must be parted, be it old or young Feank Tasker Ah ???????what about if thay dont go training ????????????every day. :-/ what do ya do then :-/ .well its rigth racing thay are parted, :X ie hens in one crate, cocks in the other.dont give much away there Mr Tasker do ya., owwwwww Speck :X :X :X
Guest WINGS 04 Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 I THINK IF IT IS CLUB RACING IT MUST BE W/HOOD BUT FOR THE LONGER RACES YOU SHOULD FLY NATUREL
jimmy_bulger Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 hi spirit . if you want to win at sprint & middle distance racing then widowhood is a must. long distance and extreme distace racing is a different kettle of fish if you want to compete seriously at the latter then you need to seek out a fancier in your locality who fly's well at that disipline and take his or her 's advice. yours in the sport . jimmy.
Guest ben Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 The beauty of the dualwidow/round-a-bout sytstems, are simplicity, cleanleness. As long as you sorted a basic system, It`s a pleasure to go into the loft, so regemental, all birds standing to attention, ready to score from 50mile club racing,up through fed combine even 550miles in the Nationals Small loft, average, big, makes no difference,i think you would be hard put to find a easier system, but saying all that, after 550 miles ,and i`m talking about hard days now mind, these systems here seem to hit a invisible brick wall, something seems to happen to 99.9 % of pigeons mentaliy/physically,and i`ve never really understood it,and this is where the so called"Natural "conditioned bird seems to come on,well into the 2nd and 3rd days ect. Perhaps fanciers who do well in these extreme distance races on here like Rose might like to share any thoughts or theories they have figured out over the years ?
Guest Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 i dont think id fly widowhood myself, because ive had good performances with hens. on the natural system. 20th combine lillers 254mls birdage...9,100 birds......///30th combine ramsgate 195mls..birdage...10.471......///29th combine leige 381mls..birdage 4,363. i know its only my opinion but i feel a lot of good hens are wasted by flying widowhood if ur only flying cocks. infact id say out of the last 3-4 yrs hens have been producing the best on average in my cot.
Roland Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 Hens have prove far the best on any distance / trials and test of late ANYWHERE! Seen he odd cock bird win a distance or hardish race, but becoming the oddity rather than the norm. Just look at the results... and obviosly it seems that the hen's again are mostly on the Natural.
jimmy white Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 i think if you look at the statistics of national races nowadays were seeing more widowhoods doing the busness , but theres a lot more sent too nowadays, and a lot more unable to do it, as well. it takes a special bird , no matter what system to win these big races, but notice the longer and harder the race is ,youll see plenty hens popping up then[,natural] but for races up to 3, 400 mile no doubts the widowhoods have the speed then 5 to over 600miles it takes a special pigeon be it widowhood or natural, only my opinion [and their far and few between, thats why their champions]
jimmy white Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 just been looking athe last two years scottish nat winners etc, just fo the record, alancon 2005 first 5 hens tours 2005 ist bird hen falais2005 1st bird hen alencon 2006 2cnd bird hen tours 2006 ist bird hen falais 2006 3d bird hen
Roland Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 And a lot more cock birds sent! Canadian Shield all sections and race were won by hens. Look at the Bicc, the MNFC, NFC... the writing is there to be seen, and plenty of hens winninghard and distance races... % wise hens are proven to take all the beating in hard / distance races.
Guest Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 Even on widowhood my hens have been far superior this past two years but it's probably down to the way I prepare them. If I was to try standard widowhood cocks it might be different but double widowhood the hens come out on top.
