Mike Lycett Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 We were at the RPRA Gala Award thing at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom First time we've been and it was good. Some superb "crack" with some great fliers. Well recommend it Mike
Roundo Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 This was the first time for a number of years that we've stayed over for the whole weekend and what a brilliant time we had. It was good to meet up with old and new fanciers, plus some really top fliers. Certainly a really enjoyable time. All the best. Roundo
Guest Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 I wish I had stayed the weekend, I was going to but I had to get back for a works leaving do, so it was a bit of a rushed day for me. So much so that when I described it to a mate, he said I had missed half of it out. Always next year I suppose.
speedbird Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 yeah i was there at the ballroom my mate won the best channel bird which one 2nationals & sections great night gonna defo go next year & get our club to start to nominate out standing results
Mike Lycett Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 Was that Hardaker & Sykes ???? Didn't get to them, I was talking to Richard Donnelly
Henrik Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 Wel thats it for another year did everyone have a good time then.
THE FIFER Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 yes great, met Richard (webmaster) but not many more from the site, but met a few others, managed to get rid of my 36 minatures, and came back with a bird from the PORTER and RICHARDSON Auction, so quite happy getting a cock to go with one of his hens, and it was,nt the one which went for £6,500.
snowy Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 as ive never been to blackpool show, what prices do the birds start from? and if anyone has any pics, please email them or put them on forum thanks
THE FIFER Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 snowy u get birds from £20 upwards which are priced on the pens, u8 can see one priced £50 on the Saturday but if still there on Sunday near closing it could come down to £25 or so as they do not like taking them home, (some of them) the only thing is if u fancy one u got to go for it as it could be gone, in the auctions as Rose said some high some very low, and it is a gamble, at the auction i was at bidding for a bird stopped at a price, then the next bird was its nest mate so the same really, so started bidding again and got the bird for £70 cheaper than its nest mate so was very pleased i stopped at the first,
snowy Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 oh thats how it works, thanks fifer, good on ya ;D
THE FIFER Posted January 26, 2006 Report Posted January 26, 2006 yes Rose I got a cock the sire of which is "WILLY WANTY" went for £700 and the dam "Crystal" went for £400, I already have "BONNY LASS" which was in the sale lot 61, I now have three of Porter&Richardson birds, so looking for a hen yet, but the one I bought at the sale will be getting paired to "Bonny Lass" which has their top birds on its pedigree including the great "GTXi"
shaker143 Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 looking forward to Blackpool another weekend sharing my bedroom with a pigeon or two. Look forward to Blackpool tower evening too. Better entertainment than the clubs down there.
Beanz Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 being pretty local about 30 miles from Blackpool, I used to only go for the day but for the last 10 years gone for the weekend much better, can pick your time to go in and out missing all the crowds, only problem now is my son wants to come every year, any good looking girls out there would like to take a 15 year old slim good looking lad off my hands for the weekend ( not as good looking as his dad yet though)
