T_T Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 What do members think about the feeding of Widow cocks. Excuse my ignorance if this question has been asked before, I have only just joined.
andy Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 I FEED ON THE FLOOR, IT CREATES MORE COMPETITION, I FIND THEY EAT BETTER..
carl Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Feed them in there boxes in a pot then you can watch what every bird is eating and how much
Guest speckled Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 Feed mine in there box, with a spoon, ;D that way you will be able to,see what each indivduall pigeon eats , my way of checking, find if ya feed on the floor in a troff, the stronger, cocks gets all the best grains. :-/ Just the way i do it. bonds then better to there boxes, as there box is there home.Speckled.
jimmy white Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 I USED TO FEED BOTH ON THE FLOOR AND IN THE BOXES. I FELT IF THERE WAS A HOLDOVER THE BIRDS WOULD EAT MORE READILY IN THE BASKET, ASO FED IN BOXES MORE PROTEIN FOR DISTANCE BIRDS, ALSO A PINCH OF RED BAND, TO GET THEM WELL USED TO MY HAND GOING IN THE BOX [WHICH THEY GRATEFULLY JUST ABOUT TOOK OFF] :)
Guest Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 I normally feed in the box as Jimmy White states it gets them used to you putting your hand in their box, but then some weeks as Andrew says I feed on the floor to create a bit of competition between the birds. Its definately better feeding in the box as you know what each are eating, and if you feed on the floor too often, you always get a few that only eat a certain grain, when given the choice.
Mike Lycett Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Feed in the pots in their boxes. Used to measure it out by spoon, but never bother now. They eat as much as they can eat, & then I take it off 'em.
