NO RULES ARE RULES  ALL MEMBERS GET A RULE BOOK      THE REASON THE YB NAT CLOSES ON 1ST DAY AT 8PM IS ITS DARK AT THAT TIME OF YEAR

THAT IS ALSO WHY HOURS OF DARKNESS ARE DIFFERENT IN THE CHANNEL RACES

The reason SNFC gave the SHU for not allowing YBs with wing stamps in the YB National was to prevent the YB being 'reported' while there was still a 2nd day of the race. Yet a bird timed must have clock checked on same day. Wondered if this means that the member's clock is reset for 'other' birds for Day 2? Can't make sense of this.  :)

One odd feature is that the clock must be read even if you don't time in, as the race details need to be closed, before the next week's race birds can be entered.

This is not true, there is a code that can be entered to clear the module if it was not brought in for strike out.

Sorry you can't get your head around this Pigeon Man. But your not listening.

I feel shunned here.  ??) I am a race secretary and I have experience with the clocks, really.  :'( :-/

This is what would happen at our club, the clock would be reset if you wanted to clock in on the second day,but what i cant understand is what linda is saying,in that if you have the ets read on day one thats it you cant clock in on the second day or that any birds that arrive after you have gone to the club would only be classed as trainers as all the race data would be wiped clean.

Sorry Carol i am trying to make sence of this,i am also a secretary and am trying to find out as much as possible about the ets as i think it will come legal in the u.k. before very long.

JEEZ   WE IN SCOTLAND  HAD A LOT OF CRAP (DONT EDIT THIS BRUNO) WHEN ETS CAME ON THE SCENE   ALL YOU GUYS IN THE REST OF THE UK  HAVE IT ALL TO LOOK FORWARD TO

RULES HAVE TO BE CHANGED TO ENCOMPASS ETS

WILL IT HELP DDA FANCIERS?  YES

IS IT EXPENSIVE?      YES

IS IT THE WAY FORWARD?    PROBABLY

WILL IT CAUSE MASS EXODUSE?  NO    NOBODY HAS TO USE IT

IS IT FAIR? ETS v RUBBER RING         NO

WILL IT CAUSE ARGUMENTS?    OH YEAH     THATS WHY WE HAVE TWO SO CALLED NATS IN SCOTLAND

Carol is the Race Secretary of her club and probably knows the workings of the Unikon better than I do, I'm just a user and a happy one at that.

one thing i will say at least these posts are constructive and at least trying to get to the bottom of things, as all questions need answered , and there seems a lot more to  it than meets the eye, as with ordinary clocks many differant organizations have differant clock rules , but with the ets would really have to have the same rules for all??/ :-/ :-/ :-/

Hi Square Peg,i see from your posting that you say that your second bird would be timed in if you had allready gone to the club, but would they be in the result as linda and fifer say that they would only be classed as trainers because all the race data would be wiped from the clock by having the first bird read,i just cant seem to get my head around this one at all. ??)

WE ARE TALKING ABOUT 2 DAY RACES HERE    I CAN GARANTEE THAT ANY DOO YOU "TIME" IN WHEN YOU ARE AT CLOCK STATION YOUR DOO WILL BE VERIFIED IN THE RACE

THINK MAYBE ALL THE UNIKON REPS AT THE SHOWS THIS YEAR ARE IN FOR A BUSY TIME        WHICH WILL BE GOOD  THAT WAY FANCIERS CAN ASK ALL RELEVANT QUESTIONS AND DECIDE FOR THEMSELVES IF IT IS FOR THEM

I HAVE JUST SPOKEN TO THE MAN WHO WAS THE AGENT FOR UNIKON IN THIS AREA AND HE SAYS YOU CAN TIME IN AS MANY BIRDS AS YOU WANT , YOU THEN TAKE YOUR CLOCK TO THE MARKING STATION WHERE YOU ONLY DO A PARTIAL PRINT OUT AND THEN YOU THEN TAKE YOUR CLOCK BACK AND INSERT IT BACK IN THE UNIT AND IT WILL HAVE ALL THE BIRDS THAT HAVE PASSED OVER THE PADS AND THEN WHEN YOU HAVE TIMED IN ALL YOU WANT YOU THEN TAKE THE CLOCK BACK TO THE READING STATION WHERE YOU DO A FULL PRINT OUT AND YOU WILL HAVE ALL BIRDS INCLUDED IN THE RACE THAT PASSED OVER THE PAD AND THAT INCLUDES ANY THAT ARRIVE WHEN YOU ARE AWAY TO GET A READING OF ANY ALREADY TIMED IN

so if there is a lot of money going on the NOM, u all take ur clocks to be taken off, there is no body got a nom timed in, this means that those with ets can get there nom timed in while away and those with other clocks can't, so ets can win the nom money after clocks are taken off as the race is open until midnight,

SOME CLUBS WILL HAVE THEIR OWN RULES ABOUT THIS, AS YOU HAVE POINTED OUT THIS COULD CAUSE PROBLEMS WITH SOMEBODY USING ETS AND OTHERS WITH SAY AN STB,

good point fifer,,,,  another i would like to ask is, would the race i.e nationals mostly, still run on till 400ypm even allthough the" result" would be over, as there are clubs with supreme averages for all races,[ inc nats],,,,,,some young lad maybe in the lead comming up to the last race, niort, and maybe all he would have to do is to time in, as in niort sometimes 400ypm could go on to the third day, would this still be possible? or does someone decide when the race is over i,e, result

I DON'T THINK ETS WILL EVER BE PROBLEM FREE UNLESS UNLESS EVERY CLUB FOLLOWS A SET OF RULES LAID DOWN BY THE SHU AND EVERY CLUB HAS TO FOLLOW THEM EXACTLY TO THE LETTER WITHOUT ANY DEVIATIONS WHATSOEVER, AND THE SAME WITH OTHER UNIONS IN THE UK

I think a lot of what you say was correct for the time, but times have amoved-on a wee bit and we can at least solve some of the problems you mentioned above.

Yes we were the 'test bed' [scotland usually is ... poll tax and all that] but I think its wrong to blame ETS for the troubles here, I think the problem was down to different factions, and maybe ETS was the straw that broke the camels back. ETS was an excuse, if there hadn't been ETS 'they' would have seized on something else.

Most of the problems are solved IF the whole club is equipped AND it is paid for by a grant AND we allowed to get on with racing our birds within a framework of common-sense rules.

Just got back from the aberdare show and was speaking to the agent for Unikon there, and i got the same answear as you tammy, the race data would not be lost from the module so any birds that were clocked when you were away or clocked the next day would be in the result,it is the person who takes off the details from the module that would delete the rate data so its up to them when the race ends. One thing that some people may not know is that the eqipment that the club needs is actually given to the club on a permanent loan free of charge, even if only one member buys the system.

ets its had more arguements for and against it, me i had my doubts but this year i bought it and will use it next season when i get it fitted in, ets clocks dont win races its your best birds that do that, i wonder what would have happened if they had brought a new timeing clock out would there have been so much friction in clubs and feds, its only supposed to be a hobby or is it, simple solution to the hole problem is get better birds than your club and fed members and beat then it can be done with a normal clock as we all know.
