Hi All,

we had a meeting last night to discuss the possile use of ETS (When allowed)

A few things that were raised:

Best system to use? only seen unikon advert lately

What type of equipment is required for each loft? pad/sensor/clock? how many for each loft?

Do you need a master computer for marking night and some sort of electronic scanner?

Would the master computer have all club details, member details and distance etc?

Any info gladly accepted, or any links to where we can find out more info.

I know that Scotland have been using ets for a while, but how do you go about things if some members dont have or cant afford ets, do they still use clocks.

Is there an allowance for non ets clockings i.e. 10 seconds to alow for traping and getting the rubber off?

We have approx 10-11 members in our club, and basically need to know overall costs for future planning.

Cheers

Dave

If any one has info that they could post to me I will PM my address

From my own personal experience, I would say Unikon. I used Benzing in the past and there was some problem with weak connectors on the wiring.

The pad is the sensor which will come in the package with your clock.

all details are programmed into the computer before the start of the race season, distances etc and your ETS rings are scanned before hand and allocated to your loft inventory.

When you purchase your system, the manufacturers will usually supply what we call a club unit, which is used to scan the birds into the clocks on basketing.

Hope this helps

We also use benzing. It has a club unit and the program we use can be set up to hold the whole combine which is 7 clubs each seperate. I have the Express which has spots for 6 pads to be hooked to the clock. I use them to cover 3 holes and have them inline so if more than one bird hits the pad it will clock the unclocked bird when they cross the 2nd pad. Here is what the clock looks like with a bird clocked.

Did you not go to the NEHU show ? They had Unikon on show there - and you couldn't get anywhere near. Basic unit is £272 - then there's the other stuff to buy. The rep reckoned last year the system was £460 and this year £420 - but what that includes I don't know, you couldn't have a conversation for everybody else butting in.........

I must admit the pads for the Benzing are better than the Unikon, but I got very frustrated with the loose connections and when we moved club we changed over to the Unikon and have been very happy with it

Wanted to go but have too much to do before next thursday, as i go in for an op.

Just about finished a new stock loft, just a couple of nest boxes to put together tomorrow, Aviary finished, and a few other small bits and pieces to get sorted.

Hopefully only staying in for one night, but then will probably be in a sling for a while.

I have been to the unikon website, but it does not give too much info, so i will probably email and see what other info i can get.

Was the NEHU show any good?

Yes, I spent a small fortune - came home when my money ran out !! Lots of bargains ( I hope - do they do counterfeit Strike and Gemthepax?) books, and a very bonny gay pied hen  ;D ;D - I'm sure she'll have those cocks running after her next year !!!

Good Luck with the op by the way  :K) :K)

Seems a bit on the pricey side Tammy, your figures equate to eleven to twelve hundred dollars and full Unikon system can be bought new here for $750
