ray Posted December 24, 2006 Report Posted December 24, 2006 i am a plebian but we are the salt of the earth lads and lasses and dont try to make out to be something where not, i work full time but couldnt afford that unless the wife ups my pocket money to a £1 instead of nowt but she has to have a hair do and new clothes everytime she goes shopping, but she always says im the boss lol i think there will be quite a few in our club ray she's always well dressed and it aint on my wages
Mike Lycett Posted December 24, 2006 Report Posted December 24, 2006 Best value in BHW this week - Sue Pogmore - Page 140. £20 each & they'll be every bit as good as the other birds advertised I reckon
Mike Lycett Posted December 24, 2006 Report Posted December 24, 2006 Ray you must be a pleb if you can't afford £170.....welcome to the club mate Don't understand at all.... When I made that comment I was bemoaning about people who SELL rubbish at HIGH PRICES - nothing to do with people's purchasing power
Mike Lycett Posted December 24, 2006 Report Posted December 24, 2006 Here's the original to prove my point Well, there's always some pleb out to try & make a few easy quid. Thankfully there's some genuine lads around still. Painter flies in a strong club. They send 400+ birds a week ................ All I was saying was people are selling inferior pigeons at extortionate prices. Pigeons that haven't done it & aren't worth the dosh.
Guest shadow Posted December 24, 2006 Report Posted December 24, 2006 they do it every year but somebody will buy them they will never learnkeep your wallets shut always more rubbish about at the end of aseason :) :)
Mike Lycett Posted December 24, 2006 Report Posted December 24, 2006 Yep - The blackpool toe-breaker will be dropping through soon. Of course, like Mick said before its very much a case of "Buyer Beware" - but there will UNDOUBTEDLY be "some" super pigeons....
Roland Posted December 24, 2006 Report Posted December 24, 2006 No Mike not true... basically that means that if you are in a favourable location, - wind wise most weeks - and you work well with the birds (or a loft manager in some cases) that your birds will be better placed in the results, full stop! Not many birds in Wales time in before Norwich/Great Yarmouth/ Lowerstoft from Lerwick I'd wage Indeed I'd wager further,Louth will 99% of the time clock in before, sayBlackpool or Liverpool. And then who gets the writes, regardless how well the less fortunate- loft position wise - fare. Indeed Like Pothercary's y'b that was within a few yards velocity, when flying against the EAST Coast Club and was 70 miles inland in a Westerly wind. 5th section 5th overall, beaten by Coastal boys in the same section .... Who gets the write up's! Not Pthercary. Which columnist takes time to write about these performance at a National Field.... Hardly any one now I've retired my pen. Why am I not writing in the BHW now! Because what I was stating went against the 'Grain' which in reality is the truth! Was told not to have go's at certain clubs and sections and National institutes... I replied I thought it was fine to disagree, if not disagreeable. I'd like as many £'s as the times I've had folks asking for me to pick up the pen again! Golly I'd be able to buy a pair off of Vic even lol. Was not looked upon favourablely by those in the 'In Crowd'. Likewise when he had 3 day birds and the other two early morning - only other three day birds were Louth and King's Lynn ... What a performance... not hardly a mention. When Gutherie beat the 'Kings Cup' winner with a bird not entered, nothing was said... what a bird, inland 70 miles of the East Coast, and nary a mention ... sure the results were shown in the Mags, Fed winner, Club winner... some Columnists were in the know... none gave a decent mention... but So sorry Mike, I must dispute your claim. Many say, and there is just cause I believe, that seldom does the best bird on the day win' ... obviously of course they also do win.
Mike Lycett Posted December 24, 2006 Report Posted December 24, 2006 Roland Honest to God I haven't got the foggiest what you're on about !! I had / have 1 point to make and that's all. 1. Do you agree that there are pigeons for sale in the books that are overpriced & haven't put up performances that are worth the money? THat's all - one question I'm asking - nothing else. Do you think every pigeon in the BHW is a bargain or are plenty of them not worth the dosh? Personally I think plenty are'nt worth it - that's all Im' saying.
