Do you want to learn in this game , or not? without professional / or  mickey mouse dribble. I say it how I see it, and will give anybody my personal views on this wonderful sport that we share together. Ta ra for now. VIC.

Why should that be so? He can do that on the relevant pages under the other topics if he so wishes. This would be good from many angles, one of the most important being that when he is content helping and proving with the wealth of knowleage he has, he won't feel then need to tell the truth  - a he sees it, and make no mistake, when he feels like being treated as a pleb, or that others are the urge to state wha he feels will be simply 'Well folks you should know better, in the mean time, here some truth, fundemental knowleadge to help any one. And he has a great memory - sometimes tarded and misplace through a good bevy - that he is a valuable poster. Never mind him speaking his mind, great, it's a darn pity a few more don't, especially those that just go along for the ride. And of course many that take cheap shots, thaey are fit ti lae his shoes in regards his achievements, and many won't get anywhere as near as good. That is a fact, me incleded.

So he le alone, and the likes of Sean just leave him to it, there is absolutely nothing, nor any reason why this should be curtailed. Some are already biting at the bit! Good gnash away, get of his back and stop taking cheap shots some of you and leave him be. Never mind that he has had goes else well, they are well able to talk that in their strid, and I'm certain that Chris would froublt a truck, let alone a rat's *expletive removed*. He is, and most should be , above such insults. Chris can more than hold his own, and I haven't seen him cry out in anquish and beg for help ... but many jump on that band - wagon, the Horay Henry, and holier than thou motto.

And before any one says 'Aye But Roland he hasn't given you grieve, let me assure he has, big time lol. I wonder what the hell had hit, and what the blazes I'd done to deserve this felow coming down to sort me big time lol. I just emigrated for a year or so, change me name and crept back lol.

So again if one doesn't like my last post, tough, but time will tell, and you don't have reply or answer or ask Vic oppinion on anything, so that's straigt, sensible and simple, and Rose we both hope I'm right lol.

When sober he answer any points you want to raise, and I'll start him off with a fundemental basis that any fancier needs the answer to, weather long in the tooth or a novice.

Vic, where and how you go about aquiring good foundation birds to start up.

A. If you are a Pleb, and

B. If you own a striving buisness and several house s etc. and money is no object.

Nice one! tar, scuse my typing, as previously mentioned. It seems that the "big boy syndicate"  have presented Vic with a very, very, shaky soapbox to stand on, hence their absence lately .Birds of a feather flock together, until a  wily old fox sniffs em out. ;D ;D ;D   Where have they all disappeared to? Did "plaundering" upset them that much?  Scrooge? Maybe. Fagans Den? Never!  HUMBUG

Merry Xmas to Albear and Roland

A. If you are a Pleb, and not a decent pot to pee in, or

B. If you own a striving buisness and several houses s etc. and money is no object!

Hi Guys! Merry Xmas to each and everyone of  you, and may the new year bring you

good health and success with our feathered friends.  Before I start, may I express my sincere  appreciation to those near and far, with you messages of encouragement. Thank you.

I started racing pigeons in 1956 with the lad next door, John Howard. We raced as Howard & Hansen in the Croxteth HS with some very well known flyers. To mention a few:- Peter Don, Jack Bradshaw, Jimmy Boyd, Jacky Young  and any one of 'em good enough to top the Amal a few times each year. This of course was when the club was itself in an easterley position, with the likes of Kirkby, Halewood  etc in the very early stages of  Council development. Sorry  Guys, it is Xmas day and another welcome visitor has arrived .......continued

Hi Guys, may I add, that during my introduction to  those early magical days, that there were some excellent secretaries doing the business at the time. Ronnie Bell, Alex Fleming and of course the remarkable Sid Jayne, spring to mind.  There were

also some oustanding flyers, living in Halewood, perhaps the greatest (in my mind.) W.Kilshaw & Son. And who can ever forget some of the performances put up by R.Humphries & Son? Towards the river we had the likes of the Fultons, Sixsmiths, Washingtons, Hawkins and many, many more really top class pigeon men.  On top of these we also had the Brecknell Bros from Huyton, and whilst talking about Huyton, one of th greatest pigeon men ever raced there, Yes the one and only Mick Mullarkey, a really true genuine  honest  pigeon man that I had the privilage to meet and also work with. ..................continued

Never mind continue lol ... where does on go to start up, or improve their pigeons lol.

Mind also like the history as I find that very interesting too Vic, so keep them coming!

Here we go again!  After a year or so, we attained some birds, out of the Kilshaw lofts from  Halewood. One of these birds, a very small Grooter hen, through Hammond and Whittakers I believe, was no showbird by far, and was out of proportion (featherwise) to say the least. It had a lovely sweet hens head, but its tail was completely too short in proportion with the rest of its body, and the upper primaries overshot the tail by at least one and a half inches. Looking back , it may have been caused by inbreeding, but I am only guessing.   Well, as we all know, blessings do sometimes come disguised, and whilst out excercising, this little hen hit the roof with such a wallop, with having a faulty breaking system, resigned herself from any future aerobatics, with a damged wing, and finished up in our first ever "stock loft".  Before long this little hen was responsible, for two of the best pigeons I have ever had the pleasure to race, and one of 'em was a latebred to boot. These gallant birds were the only birds "on the day" on quite numerous occasions, and sold myself to the sheer perplexity, intrigue, enjoyment, whatever? that these little bundle of feathers bring to us all at some time or other.        Albear first things first. ;) Vic

Hello Vic.  I also do not agree with everything you say and seems to me you beat around the bush alot and don't really get down to the real question.  But over all I enjoy your writting and believe that knowledge is knowledge and hurts no one.  With you I have to read between the lines a lot and seems to me you are very knowledgeable and have much to share when it comes to pigeon flying.  Please continue.  Everyone should just either take it or leave it but trust me folks there are lessons to be learned of lots of different sources on pigeonbasics.  Just keep reading and learn what you can while the advice is available.  Just my thoughts anyway.  Ed

Roland, Where does one go to improve ones chances? Personally I would have no hesitation but to use my own experience.  There are plenty of guys that I know, with much superior birds than my own, who very rarely win a carrot, yet seem to have longer pockets than myself, so some of these I would obviously try to pick from first. I would never dream of joining a waiting list, when some of the guys I am talking about have done the waiting for me. I would also consider the Massas six pack offer, which I have tried before, finding the reasonable successful ratio about one in eight. In fact some crosses with Masas, and my own have somehow improved my performances over the last decade. My own preference being the Catrysse bloodlines. I believe that good pigeons look past most of us whilst being held, there's a new one for the "big boys". and they must have that attractive, sensible look, if you know what I am  trying to say, along with etc. etc. etc.  until next time, Vic. ;)

Hi Guys! Before I venture any deeper, may I say that I don't profess to be an ace flyer, and would never do so, unlike one or two of our regular contributors. ;)   What I will have to say, will  strictly come from my own experience in the game. Right or Wrong? You will hear  some things you have NEVER read. You decide.OK.

Getting back to condition and health of your birds. Not long ago, I would feel guilty if I missed just one days loft scraping. Not now. I will often leave them for ten days or so, depending of course on what time of the year it is. I

will try to explain why. During the racing, when  birds  from all kind of lofts are confined together, twice a day scraping may not even save you from some sort of outbreak, and total hygiene must be the order of the day on the arrivals, whether early or late. Any strays isolated, within earshot of the loft, and given a chance to prove themselves on a better day, by a quick phonecall the following NIGHT.  There are more serious infections within pigeons  thesedays than ever before, and if you don't read it right, YOU ARE UP TO THE NECK IN IT. (Too late to be dug out even).

So if, at the end of the racing season, your birds have come through, showing no distress or sickness, why upset them by continually disturbing them with a scraper or whatever. Pigeons will tell you when their droppings are "clean"  or "dirty".

when all is right! If your birds have chalky white wattles, bright eyes, sexually proud stances, Powdery looking legs, and seem to be bi-sexual (cocks) with their continuous driving, then all is well. Condition is everything, all the year through. But to hold this condition, which will  ultimately, but not always, bring form  sooner or later, we MUST have a way to keep em free from picking up any of the deadly bugs

that plague our birds  as soon as racing commences. I am not against using some antibiotics, and by saying that,  please don't think that Vic is a white coat quack. I may even go further and explain Why and What I use to keep my birds  in so fine a fettle at ANY TIME OF THE YEAR. ;) Vic.
