be nice to see a kit of 12 birds flying  ;) was told many years ago tumbles gone out of them due to been bred mainly for shows , can see why hawks have a field day when type is more important than performance

the birds we had/ parents have still got are the old flying lines and we struggled to get new blood. We did find a guy in the midlands in his 80's with them but he's passed on now. The only new blood we could get was a canadian kormorner, slightly bigger but they have had the tumble bred out of them but the crosses have still been flying well.

Hi Phil, had two pairs of these lovely wee birds about 12 years ago and they tumble not roll. The cock bird when showing to his mate did a slow spiral, corkskrew like fall but always kept his head right way up ( hard to explain ) really pleasing to watch. I had a pair of blacks and chocolates just like yours but you get them in most colours and they are not all Magpie. Remember seing a sparrowhawk come in for the cock bird but he just did a cool flip of the wings and it missed him then stangely it buggered off? It is a shame a lot of these old tumbler breeds are now just bred for looks as I think we have lost a lot of hard work done by the fanciers of yesteryear to entertain in the sky. Maybe a time for change, bring back the real TUMBLERS and let us see what all these fancy names can really do in the sky.
