OLDYELLOW Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 why not get some cutters or catolonain tumblers that out fly falcons as thats what the breeds bred for ?
storm rollers Posted February 7, 2009 Author Report Posted February 7, 2009 i av thought about getting another flying breed but after flying rollers tumblers just wouldnt do it for me
OLDYELLOW Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 well theres many breeds to choose from , if was me then i would of gone to Blackpool and seen the birds been shown there are many types which arent so popular and be fewer of these birds and be easier winning there classes ectra just a thought
Guest Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 hi all at the min i fly rollers in comp but it is becoming impossible with the hawk so im looking into showing but not sure wat type to go with so was hopinng for some sugestions and pics of them cheers Aaron It depends on how much competition you want. By far the biggest classes at Blackpool 2009 were the Modenas. It really depends on whether you want flyers or birds to keep in an aviary.
pjc Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Aeron i would go for show racers, easy to keep but i wouldn't bother flying them out if you've got a hawk prob.
storm rollers Posted February 7, 2009 Author Report Posted February 7, 2009 some very nice birds oldyellow a credit.lenwadebob not rearly thought into it to much just doing some research at the min although i think flyers wouldnt be a great idea as we are getting hammered by the hawk at the min
storm rollers Posted February 7, 2009 Author Report Posted February 7, 2009 cracking looking birds pjc
pjc Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 showing is a great part of the sport that members overlook. I think that more members who pack up through hawks etc should look at getting into showing where they can still enjoy thier hobby/sport!
storm rollers Posted February 7, 2009 Author Report Posted February 7, 2009 i agree m8 its got to the point in leicester where people are afraid to fly at the min i think rollers are going the same way as tipplers so showing is the way forward
pjc Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 only good for what they were bred for Bob, like Kings! ;)
storm rollers Posted February 7, 2009 Author Report Posted February 7, 2009 nice birds a friend of mine has just gone into modenas couldnt believe it when i seen them how much they av changed in size'stature and i dont no if you agree but they seem to av lost abit of feather quality
Guest Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Yes I agree, horses for courses, but they are a good competition class, if that is what you want
Guest Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 nice birds a friend of mine has just gone into modenas couldnt believe it when i seen them how much they av changed in size'stature and i dont no if you agree but they seem to av lost abit of feather quality My few birds were obtained from one of the top Modena men in the country and an international judge, John Ross, who incidentally judges at Blackpool

b.massey Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 I used to keep my racers for show only purposes but will be racing a few this coming year. Think showing the pigeons is a fantastic hobby and one that racing minded only men seem to turn there noses up at. Not all just some. It takes a lot of time and effort to get pigeons into show qualtiy condition and winning red ticket is fantastic feeling. I know at the end of the day its only one mans opinion but the fact is, to win at any show either local or national takes a good bit of work. But my advice as never be scared to take on the big names in the showing world. All there to be beat. Show racers...Racers or Fancy breeds.
Roland Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 why not get some cutters or catolonain tumblers that out fly falcons as thats what the breeds bred for ? Never heard that before! You sure, golly at over 200miles an hour in a swoop...
