I'd like to install a webcam in the loft and run a cable back to the house, 15-20m,

Anyone offer advice on what would be the best one to buy considering dust, quality and distance from the house. Also whats involved in setting these up. I see they are not all that expensive...

The one I have is a 'Playstation 2 eye cam' bought for £45 off ebay and its great, did have trouble getting usb leads long enough though, I'm actually going to get another lead, to get cam closer to loft.

Installing a Web Cam in Lerwick is like throwing a pig into a lions Den lol

our webcam is located 7 metres from computer, but it could do with another 10 metres (to get it nearer the loft)

That one that you saw was also nightvision which would be good for a loft because you could look at youngbirds while on the darkness i suppose. but that camera connects to a TV not pc as far as i know. I could be wrong but if you got that you would need TV card or something to view on pc. I bought a DigitalTV USB adapter but it only has an aeriel input not AV wires or scart. :(

you cant get night vision camaras unless you are prepared to pay in exess of £1,000/£2,000 pounds i paid over £400 pounds for my cctv thats moving camaras i control i put them through my vidio and tape the loft and garden /drive way they have infra red in them but they still need a light from some where then it magnifies it the secret it puting pir lights at the right points great for the long races & security

I have a system that uses a standard webcam  (about 30.00) that you can log on and see what is going on in your loft from anywhere that is only about 15.00 a month you can use any webcam or even a wireless one
