if i was going to give them every day id make sure after exercise or training they will then love trapping into the loft.   my youngsters have as much corn as they like everyday, i like to see them develop healthy, soon get the weight off with some training nearer racing.

People have prob guessed im a fan of peanuts as well (for the birds i mean). Ive started my weaned YBs on them. They need to be cut into quarters for the YBs as they struggle to pick them up at first. And they need putting in the micorwave for 15-20 seconds to kill off any fungi

I use peanuts quite alot for showing as they produce that little bit of extra condition .They are very fattening so I would'nt over do it.Great tip about the microwave to kill bugs,Iwill do that next time as it is not easy to get real top quality peanuts.

buy my peanuts from local supermarket then you know they are not contaminated the pet shop ones could be, still no harm in using micro wave to make doubly sure

Bob be very careful with peanuts for several reasons. not least the Toxin in their system and getting a duff load. I'd only use from a Shop that sell for Human consumption for starters. And never more than three straight after a race. They will be like new by the morrow. In the wek no more than one each. Bad to stock them up on them. JMOand from expierence.

bob get your penuts from holland & barrets i think there the best peanuts u can buy, we always put our young birds on them just to get used to them but soon as there are used to them we take them off, thats normaly aroud training time.

i used them before but dont see any difference, do any of you lads and lassess use peanuts, if so when do you give them and how often, and of course how many,

ive used peanuts normally before a long hard race normally around 3 or 4 per bird as they hold water & full of protein & fat.whisch give energy released over a hard race i give the ybs them now to get use to them as yearlings. not that ybs need them or many hard races as ybs unless its a hard day at 200miles or racing channel but to get use to them as yearlings and  they then love em

Why do peanuts have to be microwaved and not their usual bird seed mixture? I would have thought that bird seed would have a certain amount of bacteria in it as well, does it?  :) :)

i throw loads of peanuts to my birds.never count or look at the amount.never did my birds any harm.always give them straight from the bag,but i do watch for funny/bad looking ones .i can say peanuts do more good then harm...paul :)
