SCOOBY Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 just glad he does not stay next door to me his garden was in a right mess looks like a bar of soap would not go a miss either so tammy do you think that guy done pigeon racing a turn or made it more appealing to the man on the street? What makes you think the guy would want to stay next door to you? :D Each to their own i say. And just a thought bart but for all you know he may have friends or relatives on here.Lets hope they don't think think we're all as ignorant as you : : : :

frank-123 Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 maybe he never bart but neither did the ones with plenty of money make it more appealing to anybody, and if the old guy who looked as if he lived alone was next door to you . you are more than able to help the old fellow tidy up ;D maybe i am more humble than you bart because i was never brought up with a silver spoon in my mouth like you were ;D and i would never criticise anybody because of what they lived like because there is an old saying ," but there for the grace of god go I" and to be honest Bart I never took you to be a snob and condacending about anybody, obviously I was wrong you dont know how i was brought up silverspoon in my mouth there was not any silverspoons in burnbank
Guest Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 i thought the purpose of the whole programme was the million dollar race and not to promote pigeon racing at all i think it was way over the top letting the public know that wee have a chance of winning 1 million bucks ,probably see more one loft races springing up all over now ;D ;D
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 So some of use thought that the Old boy done our great sport proud in which he was aggressive came across as if he was mad hadn't had a bath in a long time, his lofts/shack where a disgrace hadn't had a lick of paint since before i was born age 21 ;) ;D ;D. No wonder new members to the pigeon sport get refused from there neighbours to put a loft up after watching that part of the show. I am sure he is a great fancier and has won at the top for many many years but how did a producer manage to come across the Old man in the first place, :-/ : surely there would have been other lofts that would have done more to encourage more of the population to our great sport. As for some of the quotes from this website about been snobish having flashy expensive lofts, money has got nothing to do with having tidy lofts, for a small some of money it does not take much to make lofts respectable to the general public, i may also add that my own lofts are nothing flashy but they are respectable. Well for the ones that thought the old man done the sport proud perhaps you could you list the good points that would have encouraged new fanciers to join our sport.

Well for the ones that thought the old man done the sport proud perhaps you could you list the good points that would have encouraged new fanciers to join our sport. Where did anybody say you had flashy lofts ? and maybe the man didnae have enough money for a tin of paint and he hardly looked able to do a lot of work on the loft or his garden and if the man is unable to keep his lofts and garden looking nice and tidy does he have to give up his pigeons just because you dont think he is an appropriate person to have a loft in an untidy garden, and what did the men with all the money and big tiled lofts do to encourage anybody to join the pigeon sport nothing except to show the greedy side of it involving money because there are plenty folk who are in the sport and all they can see are pound signs, and never mind as you quote it" some of the quotes on this website", the one i made is what gives you the right to lambast the state of anybodys place or the way they live or choose to live, and nobody said the old man done the sport proud did they, cannae see that posted anywhere.
me Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 Think you are being a bit snobbish here by ridiculing the old man and his loft, maybe the man just enjoys keeping a few birds and what he had was the best he could afford to have, great big fancy lofts and plenty money dont make anybody a better pigeon man,and he was obviously happy with what he had and thats what it is all about , think it's time for you to climb down off your high horse. I made EXACTLY this point on another thread a few weeks back. Everyone was falling over themselves to have a good arguement about lottery grants to buy ETS and made the point that getting 500 quid that is not even means tested to buy an ETS would come back to haunt us eventually, when the public suss out how much some people win and how much they pay for doos. Also made the point that what will beat this game is not people having to use an STB but guys especially older fanciers not being able to renew their loft and 500 quid would be far better spent on a new loft in my opinion. That old guy last night could certainly have used it.
Guest Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 :P : : ;D ;D No i am not good looking enough for the camera's. thats true ;D ;D ;D they'd have to stand back to far to get you in the picture ;D ;D

Guest Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 Don't think it needs a lottery grant to keep a loft in reasonable nick. How do we know that our new lottery loft won't be turned into another shacks r us a couple of years down the line? Who is going to look after it and make sure it doesn't?
Wiley Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 Although it was a good programme, i dont think it done the sport any favours, it made it seem the sport was a sport where you needed alot of money to purchase pigeons and to get started, it was also apparent it was an old mans sport there was some showing of derek s son but not much, would have been better if they showed a young fancier in amongst them,
Wiley Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 i think it was rose thats why ever one was on edge to see which one would drop first onto the pad
ALF Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 I AGREE YOU JUST HAVE TO TAKE OUR OWN TAMMY N ALF AS EXAMPLES TOO THIS............ ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D A COMPLIMENT FAE GANGSTER I BETTER SAVE THIS AWAY SOMEWHERE ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
rockinrick Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 i thought the purpose of the whole programme was the million dollar race and not to promote pigeon racing at all. or show how birds were kept or to show how people live , i personally would want to listen to the old fella i bet he could put most lofts to shame with his birds :)

How do we know that our new lottery loft won't be turned into another shacks r us a couple of years down the line? Who is going to look after it and make sure it doesn't? Why did'nt i think of that Bruno spot on again. Are you naturally negative about everything or just everything i post? Tell you what get the old boy an ETS I'm sure that will make it all right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guest Paulo Posted May 2, 2007 Report Posted May 2, 2007 ETS is the devils work the lord will strike it down one day. ;D ;D
