Guest Vic Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 Some of the winning "channel" pigeons flying into the Liverpool Amal, have not flown over six hours yet. Early days, (to say the least) The further you go in Europe the more the reward. Always remember that you manure mixers. ;D ;D ;D Vic.

Guest Vic Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 How far into europe do you go with your birds vic Off hand 500 miles, but on hand (holding the right sort of bird) into Europe, quite a common occurrence, European citys delight us all. (especially if you have had the good fortune to be born a Merseysider) AIthough, it can become boring for us sometimes. The cream will always rise to the top. Unlike some! ;D ;D ;D
Guest Vic Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 Actually Rose, without meaning to embarrass you in any way whatsoever, If you check the records. THE LONGEST WINNER OF THE PAU INTERNATIONAL WAS A LIVERPOOL DOCKER (JIMMY WARREN) WHO MOVED TO SOUTHPORT AND WON IT WITH LANCASHIRE ROSE. ;D ;D ;D ;D

thunderboult Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 hey vic my shortest channel race is 185mls my longest is 753mls but they're all channel races regardless of how long they take
me Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 'What is channel racing?' Fairly sure thats when the doos fly from the north coast of France to the south coast of England during the race. As opposed to hitching a lift on a ferry or walking through the tunnel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
blackjack Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 Thats funny Jimmy Warren was a singer on the club circuit not a docker i met young Jimmy a couple of times he lived in Banks. The Best channel flyers up your end where Dick Baldwin,Martland Bros,Hugh Cropper,Albert Barton,Rueben Edmondson and Dr Rigg not a scouser among them. The scousers tended to be sprinters and that hasnt changed.
Guest Vic Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 Rose, sorry for such a late reply. but the nfc has been won into Wales you know. Does this not make it an international race? This is why Shre became undone on his footie question. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

The scousers tended to be sprinters and that hasnt changed. Blackjack! Get your facts right! You talk a load of garbage.Young Warren had nothing to do with his dads success, for starters. As regards the other so called channel flyers, How about? TOFT, THRORUGHOOD, BURTON, KILSHAW, HUMPHRIES, ETC, ETC. ETC THE "WOOLYBACKS" THAT YOU MENTION GOT THEIR BIRDS FROM THESE LIVERPOOL MAESTROS.
whiteflight Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 Vic i can see why the woolybacks dont like you lot over the water lol if thier all like you,,,, which i know thier not , i shall be back up on the woolyback side very soon but i will be back over your side to see the nice ppl of liverpool

This is why Shre became undone on his footie question. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Sounds a bit like the nonsense the Van Hees came up with to deprive "Supercrack" of a 4th National win. but I know you did'nt mean it that way Gangster lad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
swilcox Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 Vic Lots of races have already been won but isnt it a great time to hit top form!!!! Many lofts drop away about now just as its all getting interesting. In Belguim they are only on week 3 of there National program with 7 races still in front of them!!! Stuart
blackjack Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 A reply to Vic calling Dick Baldwin a so called flyers shows your ignorance of possibly one of the best flyers the NW has ever produced Check his results .Dick never had any pigeons of merit from Liverpool they came from Southport and Croston niether did Martlands ,Edmondson and the Dr i cannot speak for Hugh Cropper. Funnily enough though when Dicks pigeons were stolen on 3 occasionsin the 1980,sand90,s guess where we went to get them back Victor Its a city some 20miles away i will give you 3 guesses.

He may be A gangster I don't know, as I don't know the man! But, he certainly isn't The Gangster from pigeonbasics! They are two different people! Blackjack, Dick Baldwin was an all time great, and a gentleman. I know of the other fanciers you mention Martland Bros, Hugh Cropper, Albert Barton, Rueben Edmondson and particularly Dr Rigg, only through my dad. My dad reveres these men as top fanciers of yesteryear, so they must have been something special! So much so, we purchased birds from Dick Baldwins sale after his unfortunate passing several years ago. Of the fanciers Vic mentions, I am sure these too were ace fliers in their day, but I have only heard of the great Les Kilshaw from the list given. Liverpool, much like the rest of the North West region, is a hotbed of pigeon racing without doubt, but there are plenty other places where top fanciers are revered as much, its not the only area to produce pigeon maestro's! All the best!
blackjack Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 Davey i used to come from the Cotswolds every 2 weeks to do Dicks birds Myself im Stephen Holmes and Mick Tootle from Kirkby put the list together for the sale i fly Dicks and put them intoJonand Rose Wills ,Ian Benstead Des Coulters and Bill Ahernes with some success. Dick was more than a freind much more and your right good flyers come from everywhere.Good luck and good flying .Stephen
Guest Vic Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 When the likes of Toft ,Thoroughood and alderman T.H. Burton to mention a few, were doing the trail blazing in the North West, the likes of Dick Baldwin, Dr T.H. Rigg etc. etc. were still sucking dummies, so get SOME of your facts right. Have you not heard of the great Alfonso? the first bird to fly from Spain to these shores. AS i was saying, the greats that you mention, were making sand castles on Southport beach, when the real maestros were making true, "castles in the skies." ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
