tskyes Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 JUST BEEN ON THE LOST AND FOUND SECTION AND THE FOUND SECTION IS UNBELIEVABLE,THERE ARE TOO MANY BIRDS ON THERE,IS IT NOT RPRA RULING THAT ALL BIRDS SHOULD BE WING STAMPED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF THEY WERE STAMPED A SIMPLE PHONE CALL WOULD SORT THE PROBLEM OUT ! COME ON LADS AND LASSES WE GET ENOUGH BAD PRESS AS IT IS SO WHY NOT STAMP THE BIRDS ?MAKE IT EASIER FOR PEOPLE TO REPORT THE BIRDS.
Fife_pigeon_wife Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 I agree. We have had birds ( which had our tel no. clearly stamped on it ) through the stray basket. when we get a bird in first thing thats checked is if it has a wing stamp or ring .
Guest Vic Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 In my mind, a bird that is not wing stamped (i.e. most non English, but British birds) should not be reported but deported a.s.a.p. Never has there ever been a sport with so many conflicting rules between the powers that be. Surely they sell wing stamps outside of England? Let us all be stampWISE together. ie WISE = Wales, Ireland, Scotland and England! Vic.

COME ON LADS AND LASSES WE GET ENOUGH BAD PRESS AS IT IS SO WHY NOT STAMP THE BIRDS ?MAKE IT EASIER FOR PEOPLE TO REPORT THE BIRDS. well , i have found that it doesnt matter if you wng stamp or tattoe it all over its body , i bred up55 birds last year and put boddy ridewood id rings on them with my home number and mobile number , i have 20 left outta 55 , outta those 35 missing i have had maybe 6 reported did the hawks eat 29 birds ???????????? absolute rubbish , i asked a bloke one time that reported my bird 6 days after getting it in and he replied because he wont phone mobile numbers ,,,,,,( so wats use me wasting my time doing it in first place ) also if a fancier takes shine to ure birds it dont matter how much u put ure mark on the bird it aint coming home .. > my annoyed thoughts

Vic. vic i think u should open ur mind to the fact we in wales have many ENGLISH birds that come in regular and have no wing stamp...surely they sell wing stamps in england?...so dont think u english are the only nationality that stamp...think again!....paul
Guest Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Copied this from my reply to 'Strays' on this board:- "Think we've covered this before, no identification allowed on OBs in Scotland, no wing stamp no telephone ring, nuffink, and nothing other than ID ring and ETS ring on any SNFC race bird, including YBs. Different story with YBs in other than SNFC race. Got to be wing stamped. SHU YB list for 2007, front page 'CHECK PIGEONS WING FOR STAMP GIVING OWNERS TEL NUMBER' . Not shouting ;D ;D ;D typed it as it is on the page." The other 'rule' - mentioned on this thread - is that during 6 weeks that the SHU Stray Centre is open, instruction is NOT to report Scottish-rung YBs, but to keep them and if they don't clear by themselves, and are fit, pop them in the stray basket down the club on Friday, guarantees they are back with the owner by Sunday, cost £3.50. But I think that there is a lot more could be done on the strays issue, both prevention & repatriation.

Guest Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 i agree totally about if u dont want to pay...then dont send,i have my number on plastic rings(yellow) and also i stamp my birds, our club has been very strict on this, this year(mind u im sec so they have to be lol)but our union has now stated that any person found not stamping their birds will face suspension. they have been warning all about this for about 2 yrs, now they mean business ,...paul
thunderboult Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 i live in swansea and round here if your not wing stamped you don't send , you don't get many birds reported (i've had a single pigeon reported in the last 2 years) i've heard stories where a lot of people will kill strays rather than report them, last week i had a bird reported in hamburg germany the couple could'nt speak english so they got their dtr to phone me(she does'nt live with them) a lot of fanciers would'nt go to trouble( i suspect they think us welsh could'nt afford to get em back) or is it that they look better than what they got in their sheds !!!
speedbird Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 think its daft for not wanting to stamp birds so they dont to pay to get em back dad lost 3of his best best birds from one race of which 1had over 20 cards. If this is the reason not having to send for them back think again cos you can loose your best!!! also its easy to report birds either by internet or phone of which ive reported several this year & got owners details with 24hours,mine personally are all stampted & got black rings with tel number on. which is fine if it lands into a pigeon loft we know what to do but if a non fancier gets 1in they sometimes are clue less threfore must be stampted failing that they should be fined.
Roland Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 So you wing stamp, or name ring them eh! Was of the oppinion till now that these - mostly done it because they A. wanted their bird back if lost, and B. to be in line with the RPRA /and other regulators. Seems now .... No name tag.... he don't want it....! and B. Ah he wants it back eh .... me be a ood un.... I train it up and see how it goes.
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 I AGREE ALL MY BIRDS ARE WING STAMPED OR TELEPHONE RUNG
sapper756 Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 SHU say you must wingstamp, yet the SNFC do not allow birds wingstamped to race. Wish they would both get thier act together and come to some sort of common agreement. :-/

sapper756 Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 yes wing stamp young birds, no rule about old birds Iknow, so what happens when you want to send a youngster to the SNFC young bird race?
Williedoo Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 Iknow, so what happens when you want to send a youngster to the SNFC young bird race? Delete the stamp with a felt pen.
