blackjack Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 I have just discovered my local station some 17mls away has closed now its 35 mls to the nearest working fulltime is making NFC flying impossible for us. So we are coming out it will just be the BICC now do people these days consider fulltime workers or do they think we are all retired or unemployed ?.
peterpau Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 BICC and BBC have got it right for me. Thought the way the NFC was ran last year was a disgrace so we resigned.
Guest Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Hi Stephen, I sympathize with your feelings. Maybe you could put your anguish through your local section committee member to see if you can get the decision overturned. There must be some legitimate reason behind it. Your committee member may be able to enlighten you to the reason at the very least!
Roland Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Hi Stephen, I sympathize with your feelings. Maybe you could put your anguish through your local section committee member to see if you can get the decision overturned. There must be some legitimate reason behind it. Your committee member may be able to enlighten you to the reason at the very least! Sorry, but I'd bet you are wrong there. Geared to suit certain ones and area's.... others are there purely to make up the coffers' I'm afraid. Can't be the cost... possibly the Venue, but they would be off the mark pronto if this was the case. You see the mere realisation that as a fully paid club member you are entitled to the same rights and priveledges as every other... Now that means NO discrimination.... Bout time the RPRA got their claws in the discrimante twists and turns of several governing bodies and Quote 'Human Rights, discrimination acts, etc. etc. But they won't, not in the interests, and no milage in it for them or the NFC to be fair - even within reason - across the board.
Guest Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 You could be right Roland, I don't know the answer. I was just trying to guide the guys to a responsible body that could help. I think if the questions are driven through the right channels there may be a better chance of an answer. If there is a case of discrimination, surely it should be put in front of the NFC committee meeting, and if the answers aren't good enough for the complainee, would the RPRA then not become involved to ensure a fair hearing? I thought this would be standard procedure!
Roland Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Sorry, but no. It just never happens. Sorry to be a damp squib, but it was the same in Loydd Georges day till now, and if good enough for him ... But I do appreciate personally that there are still many like you that do care, take an interest, and put forward their views. I have lists of arms long but it is Jaw Jaw and ask.... but never happened. Yes one fellow did win a case in court against the RPRA where it was ruled that they were out of order. Buthe was an extremely wealthy man... As for me, no money, so they can say 'You're riht, spot on, and we agree.... but you aren't in the 'Boys Club' so tough...
blackjack Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 Hello Chaps im not knocking the NFC secretary its the situation i am just in sect I but the large majority of are section are in the midlands and black country the Gloucestershire/Oxon and South Warwicks flyers have no say it would be fairer to lift the section by some 10mls and take the Glos ond Oxon fanciers out and put us in sect F.The section delegates are both from Rugely and we never see or speak to them we mark at different stations and never meet. The other problem here is Nfc membership has plummeted to literally a handful so stations close we will probably resign at the end of the season as are 3 others it will be just the BICC from now on simple logistics and cost.
Guest Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 Hi Steve, I never thought you were knocking the secretary, especially with our history!!!Just tried to guide you to someone who may be able to help you. You should contact your NFC Section Committee member, so that you're voice can be heard. Resigning is not the answer. I understand and appreciate the cost and logistics situation to individual members, and if resigning is purely down to that then fair enough. Everyone is governed by their own pocket. But before you go, and I sincerely hope you don't, direct your issues through the proper channels so at least the message gets through to the committee, and you never know, something may just happen. If everyone just resigns, then there will be nothing left! I hope you change your mind Steve, and the other three fanciers aswell! But whatever you decide, good luck in your endeavors!
stantheman Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 having run a clock station for a number of years there are a number of reasons as to why they are sometimes few and far between and i have to say the main reason is ungrateful and inconsiderate fanciers who dont realise that the clocksetters do the job mainly for pleasure and not for money. There is nothing worse than sitting waiting for people to reurn their clocks and getting no phone call to say they are not bothering or have not timed in. Also i have waited till 11pm at night got home then get phone call from irate fancier asking me why i am not at clock station. At my clock station we go out of our way to help the working fancier iepicking up clocks at marking stations and arranging pick up of them on sat mornings if it helps
Guest Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 Good on you Stan, I'm sure the majority appreciate what you do.
Guest Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 Stan, I don't know you, but I second Albears emotion! That is what this game is built on, fanciers like yourself! Long may it continue!
stantheman Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 thanks for the positive comments lads also forgot to mention that at our clockstation we even hire out a club T3 if required if it makes life easier and the clock setting fees are donated back to the club to help keep our club running. I think the sport could do more to help itself and retain members. Last season as chairman of the Coventry fed I was slated for giving our old transporter away to another fed in return for the promise of 30 yougsters to sell this season, but it was going to cost us £20 a week just to store it. This year we sold the youngsters and got far more than the transporter would have sold for so all in all both feds have benifited as the saying goes you reap what you sow.
blackjack Posted June 29, 2007 Author Report Posted June 29, 2007 Dave its down to pure logistics and to Stan i used to run a BICC marking station for some years yes all your points are valid and true thier a lot of people who think because you run a station you become a butler at thier beck and call. The sad problem round here is the NFC membership has fallen though the floor to a very low point marking isnt easy and as we are in sect I but do not feel part of it our connections are to Glos and Oxon not Staffs and Notts in friendships and racing. Nobody wants to do it anymore at Carterton a number resigned from the NFC last year here leaving just 2 !. The NFC must look at this but they want fewer marking stations i was told by a committee member last week .
Roland Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 Good on you Stan, I'm sure the majority appreciate what you do. Yes and we surely appreciate all the local ones here. For south rd clubs The Northants through Mel Errington is fantastic. N We also have marking stations at Raunds, and Moulten. and Clock station through our Northants South rd club. and the NRCC at the Raunds pigeon club. Both are very helpful and great. But then I feel in this regards we are vey lucky.
