dandydoo Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 It is unfortunate that it said "English" ..... but reading it, it is very clear that it is to challenge the DEFRA interpretation of the current legislation and how they translate their interpretation into policy. It is clear that this is for ALL Channel racing ...may i remind my tartan chums that DEFRA do indeed set out the policy for SEERAD (the Scottish Exec) thus a successful legal challenge to DEFRA would ALLOW ALL FANCIERS to participate in Channel Racing ...at least to get the same policy as the say the Beligians. (Johno, Tentears, Peter) As for probity of the fund .... the BICC has a fine record of financial record keeping and is populated with many fanciers who are extremely well off ...so i dont think running off with 100k WOULD SEEM REASONABLE. For once lets all fanciers who are channeled minded get together to campaign, lobby to get fairness and equality
Guest Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Hope to cool things a bit. The terms Expat has used are not racist, and are a common failing which has caused many complaints. The use of 'English' and 'British' are not interchangeable, but many speak of England as if it were Britain. It is institutionalised and even the BBC thinks England is the National team [any team, including Tiddlywinks ]. Rose is right. The fund is about all channel racing. BICC are to be congratulated in spearheading it. Lets get back to supporting it and its aims and save the fighting for DEFRA.

You were nearly right Bruno it is institutional racism and to be fair I am sure Expat does not really know or understand why that is wrong it is just the way he was brought up and shaped by the environment he was exposed to. I call it "Jimmy Hill Syndrome" All together now "We hate Jimmy Hill ---------------"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Guest Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Definition of Institutional racism:- "The collective failure of an organisation to provide an appropriate and professional service to people because of their colour, culture or ethnic origin which can be seen or detected in processes; attitudes and behaviour which amount to discrimination through unwitting prejudice, ignorance, thoughtlessness and racist stereotyping which disadvantages minority ethnic people." From the Macpherson report Think its the second bit about attitudes and behaviour which fit best here. For me the last part 'which disadvantages minority ethnic people' proves my point that it is not racism, Scots and Welsh aren't 'minority ethnic people' and we are certainly not disadvantaged by it, thanks to it we have our own devolved governments and legislation tailored to our own needs.
expat1 Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Hi If i was refering to Sammy then that would be a different kettle of fish, But i was refering to one man only, that was Vic' no one else, but there is Two Scotsmen who cannot take that in, I was bought up to respect everyone regardless of Colour or Creed, and i was not too bad at the english language at school No Nationality of pigeon fancier was mentioned by me, just a harmless phase i was bought up with when posting to Vic. so what the hell is that got to do with Scotsmen, Welshmen, Irish Men or any one else, This is my last on this subject, just one last thing to fanciers of another nationallity if that is what they think they are , Is the word English a dirty or replusive word, because if you think that then you are the ones who are Racist Expat
jimmy_bulger Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 hi all. i think meself personally a few things on here. have been taken out of perspective or misconstrewed and i firmly believe we are all in the same boat. its about time we all got together wether we be english, irish, scotish, welsh,or any other denomonation and all start singing from the same hymm sheet. the BICC in theire wisdom are prepared to lead the way and i think we should all take a step back and think do we want to fight for the right to race long distance or not. if we do then it's time to leave the petty nonsense out and all fight for this sport of our's. yours in the sport. JIMMY BULGER.
jimmy white Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 well said jimmy , in my opinion, your spot on.

expat1 Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Simple reason Sammy, you are the cause of this by sticking your nose in when it was nothing to do with you, But you are not wise enough to take it in But i will not lower myszelf to your standards and curse like you do As as far as distance racing is concerened compared to me you would be left out on a roof top wondering which way was home, 'SO HOW ABOUT WE BOTH SHUT UP'

johno Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 dandydoo i do not think i said anything about anyone running off with anything. if you had taken the time to read and digest the posts all i was doing was asking where the appropriate checks and balances were. also i was asking as to who had final say in policy making and direction. unfortunately your long running obsession with attempting to attack anything i post has shown you up in an unfavourable light. try and see the content of the posts. attempt to see further than who posted the questions. this approach can only help. it would be good for your blood pressure also.
jimmy_bulger Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 it's a hard life rose being a referee ;D
