Bet you don't sleep Friday night  ;D  ;D

Didn't sleep last night lol

Dads coming down to the loft tonight to help me check that the birds I'm sending are in the right condition.

Sick as my dark cock I've bred who has been back first for the last three fed trainers has been fighting and had his eye pecked so can't send him which I'm gutted about as he is in great fettle at the minute.

Will have to pick his nestmate as a pooler the biggest problem with mine is getting them through the door at the minute as they are full of beans. That dark cock fancied one of the tumblers so he was staright in the door and the first race is only Wakefield so it will be a trapping race.

Most of the lads down near me race them to the corn tin as well so they are famished Dad won't let me do that thro cause he reckons its counter productive and the birds will go down if its a hard day as they need plenty of muscle on them as they are still growing and starving them doesn't gave them the nutrients to stay healthy and grow.

Still they will have a half feed before they go so they won't spew in the basket so will have an empty crop on saturday but those other lads will be totally starving

Think that dad is right on that one I remember years ago seeing that there were plenty that flew to the corn tin seen birds drop out the sky straight into it where they were so hungry had some brilliant yb flyers about but you didnt see much of them when it came to obs they finished them with what they did to them as ybs

well no danger of me doing it Rose those YB;s are the future of my loft so not going to risk them by doing pointless things just to cover myself in glory for a few yb's races.

Watched a video about system X how to win with young birds and he basically stopped the yb's he wanted to keep as old birds and flew the rest to distruction and admitted that the system totally knacked them if they did all the races. Not for me I love my birds and can be hard when neccessary but at the end of the day they are children and its education that will make them good racers as old birds.

Good distance pigeons which is what I'm interested in aren't made by starving them

Split these posts from 'where are u racing 28th July' thread. They are a topic on their own and I'm sure others will want to discuss it.  :)

Agree totally Paulo, yb racing is an education, anything won along the way is a bonus.  :) :)

Such a great feeling, i will never forget my first youngbird race, 18th July 1998 came 18th club and felt on top of the world that evening! All the best, hope they come well, but most importantly , remember its only a hobby! So enjoy them  :) (coming from me, an ultra competitive member!!)

On feeding, I have been feeding twice per day, a little late morning after exercise, and as much as they want late evening after training.

Think this has helped today, basket day, because the birds are getting something to eat just before midday, then basket 5pm, so they will miss out on a meal and although they will be hungry coming home from the race tomorrow, they won't be starved.

Different regime this year, so looking forward to 1st race tomorrow.

Well didn't do two bad the club got smashed up by the lads on the top allotments as the wind took the drag to the west of us and over the top and their allotments were directly below the drag.

Race was a smash for a lot of people I sent 20 and got 21 back which was good for a novice considering a lot more experienced flyers than me were missing 10s,13's and 20's.

Think I need to be on the dark for next year through. Still hopefully next race will be a bit better.

Also had some good news one of the birds I bred for mac1 on here has won for him so at least the stock birds I have are breeding something.

Glad I listened to my dads advice and have trained the birds and fed them properly and they are well conditioned overwise I think I would have lost a lot more like some people.

Plus like my dad said to me the birds are fit and healthy they will get somewhere for you if you just keep it up
