davebuttle Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Hi is any one from the Mid Lothian Fed, I believe that they are due to lib from Aycliffe this weekend. A member of our club (currently unemployed and cannot afford the £30 amtrak) at Aycliffe has had a YB reported, from Fife. We would be over the moon if someone could pick the bird up and send it down to Aycliffe on the Mid Lothian Transporter. If anyone is available and kind enough to do this I will give them the address/ telephone number. Regards Dave

barlbyloft Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 hay shotgun years back i was on a tight budget and still raced my birds. you work out how many birds you can aford to send each week and thats it. even on a tight budget you got to have a hooby and if its racing pigeons then it is end of,
barlbyloft Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 ps this is a sport for all and should always remember this was once a poor mans sport.and it was the old times what made this sport what it is today,ps shotgun if you got so much money why not do tha poor guy a faver and pick the bird up and take it to him.
Lightning McQueen Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Its not about people being able to afford this or that.......lets all stick together and help each other out..(we all know Amtrak is damn expensive) This is way for US ALL to save money?? ALL FOR ONE & ONE FOR ALL ;)
davebuttle Posted July 30, 2007 Author Report Posted July 30, 2007 This member was working until recently, and was laid off. Good old Flymo, if people can`t cut the grass he can`t make the machines. He`s on benefits of £50 per week, not everyone is that fortunate. He only breeds what he can afford to keep. Just aswell he doesnt have kids or Defra might visit. He doesnt drink either but will help anyone he can. If nobody can collect on his behalf to put on a transporter, the only other option is let it go, be free little pigeon be free. or do the end of season thing for birds that are not wanted. Doubt this lady would do that!
ALF Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 surley if he cant afford to pat £30 he shouldnt be racing, what happrns if he gets more than 1 reported? we all can say "i cant afford to send for them" SO THE GUY SHOULDNAE RACE PIGEONS IF HE CANNAE AFFORD TO PAY THE £30 TO SEND FOR 1 IF IT GETS REPORTED EH TIM : : GET A LIFE expletive remove AND COME BACK INTO THE REAL WORLD WILL YOU. NOT EVERYONE HAS £30 GOING SPARE BUT THAT DOES'NT MEAN THEY CANT RACE THEIR PIGEONS!!!
mark Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 there should be enough people on here far and wide to pick any birds up within the uk and scotland
shotgun tim Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 i didnt mean to sound bad, i try and get evey stray tossed as near to home as i can,it seamed to be an excuse with a lot of people "im an old age pensioner""iv finished with the birds"and all the rest of the excuses if it was local to me i would pick the bird up.what amazes me is how come amtrak charge 30 quid yet we can get them picked up any where in scotland for£12.50 so sorry if i sounded off
Guest Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Posted my view elsewhere with transporters going up and down the UK every week during racing season, we should be able to help ourselves to get birds back to where they belong at no extra cost.
davebuttle Posted July 30, 2007 Author Report Posted July 30, 2007 If it was only £12.50 we all would have birds picked up. I suggested trying to get someone to pick up if possible, as the transporter is coming to Aycliffe. I had one put on the unc transporter from Northumberland to Sappers corner, which is about 8 miles away, and it cost £3 but it was worth it. Even if it cost that or £12.50 to put it on a transporter it would get a lot of birds home.
davebuttle Posted July 30, 2007 Author Report Posted July 30, 2007 Anyway enough bitching, can someone help out. Please.
Guest Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 surley if he cant afford to pat £30 he shouldnt be racing, what happrns if he gets more than 1 reported? we all can say "i cant afford to send for them" As someone who has been spun the same old yarn a hundred times and been left with a bird I have no use for whatsoever I have no sympathy.People like that just insult my inteligence,do they think we all came down in the last shower?.If they can't afford the amtrak they shouldn't send them.Don't fall for it
davebuttle Posted July 30, 2007 Author Report Posted July 30, 2007 > So if you send 10 birds then you need a reserve fund of £300 to collect birds that have been blown of course. Assuming that all 10 were in different locations? : Highly unlikely, but possible. Oh my God what would we do if it was over the water!! £3000
davebuttle Posted July 30, 2007 Author Report Posted July 30, 2007 Problem hopefully now sorted thanks to a genuine pigeon man.
