Concrete base with a granite finish...

3x2 framing and use the hard wood floor sections you can clean under it no probs plenty air and they are not standing on anything nasty

agree with a small gap around the bottom makes it easier to wash out with hose

our stock loft avairy has a mesh floor with a 2 foot drop under onto smooth concrete, so if you decide to put a bath in all the water thats splashed about can escape and droppings drop through, I just scrape the concrete twice per week.

Mine are on 'plain' concrete just now, with deep litter. I've got concrete cancer in places, caused I think by acid in the droppings.

Would think Andy's 'reniforced' concrete would be ideal for an aviary. Virtually maintenance free, a handful of lime dries up any damp patches quickly, from bath or rain. Can use a brush, long handled scraper or a hose.

Don't know if you intend floor to ceiling mesh walls, if so the mesh is continued down either into or beyond the concrete on all sides, to prevent fox, stoat, weasel or mink burrowing under it. Personally, I advise a solid wooden wall 2 - 3' high from the floor, on all sides, to stop ground level prying eyes sizing up the birds. Had floor to ceiling mesh doors until I discovered a cat watching the birds on the floor inside ... I put a panel on the bottom of the doors.
