swilcox Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 I may be opening a can of worms here but its a question i feel needs to be discussed. Pigeonbasics is currently and have for a while run a For Sale page of which many use, its not free as it requires a donation!!! Myself i offer a top quality pigeon each year and donate 100% to the running of the site, Last year it was £180 of which i hope really helped Richard, the same will be done this term. Some of the members are taking offence to me selling pigeons on pb, others see it as interesting and an opertunity to see whats available and new. I dont really enjoy being attack regular basis for selling pigeons when to be honest i merely passing them on at the price i paid!!!! So my question is do the members want the for sale pages and if so can they be run without the sellers being attacked. For example Harky has accused me of not giving pigeons to Help People when i have donated pigeons this year alone to Greengrass, SHU Auction (going on now), Young Fanciers Competition, 3 x Transportor Sales etc. If people are going to put these comments in writing they at least have to be correct!!!!! I have been a member of Pigeon Basics for a long time and value my membership and would like to continue to help finance the site through are pigeon donations. Stuart Wilcox
Roundo Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 I feel the 'For Sale' pages are a great part of PB. Over the past few years through buying and selling birds I've made some great friends and not only that, it's nice to see how well your own birds perform in other parts of Britain. I myself have sold birds on PB and have made donations towards the running costs. My personal thought on the subject is, if someone sells birds through the site a small donation should be made.......that's not asking much. As far as Stuart is concerned, anytime he advertises birds on this site they are certainly quality birds that would grace anyone's loft. So to lose the opportunity of purchasing class pigeons would be a great loss to the members. What are the members thoughts on this subject?? Roundo.
Mike Lycett Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 I got no probs with you selling here Stu..
Guest Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Hi Stuart, i think your doing a grand job, keep it up, ........amanda ;D
Guest jason Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 I think the sale pages are great, if theres something your looking for just go on and its usually there for sale. I also think,as its a free service, that a donation is in order, as for stuart, he gives good donations so I personally can't see any problem as long as the seller gives a donation. sellers have to pay advertising elsewhere so whats wrong with giving a donation?. Jason
ACE LOFTS Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 stuart is a genuin pigeon dealer, i have obtained pigeons in the past are are very very well bred pigeons, and value for money stu dosent ask for a lot for his pigeons and i think are slighty under valued compared to other dealers. so stu u do a great job mate and keep it up
Tony C Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Stuart the way you conduct yourself on this site in my view is A1.
DOVEScot Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 If theres a place on the site, as in pigeons for sale etc, then why would anyone object to one using it, maybe there should be a place on the site for donations received against list of names or visa versa We have had some cracking pigeons from members which probably would not have if not for the "for sale" section
Guest Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 The problem with selling pigeons in this game is you have to be thick skinned. You always get people having a go. No one has a go at you when you are forking out good money to buy the best. But heaven forbid if you try to sell some. The top and the bottom of it all is this, if someone wants to sell or buy a bird for whatever price they want, and one of the parties isn't you, WHY BECOME INVOLVED! If you don't want to buy/sell, then don't! Leave the people alone to get on with their business! UNLESS, you can prove that there is a rip-off happening, that would be different! Stuart, take no notice of anyone, do what you want to do, as long as its not causing damage to anyone else, it has nothing to do wih them! Good luck!
Guest Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Stuart there is no need for you to explain yourself, the reputation you have on here will not be undermined by a couple of stupid comments!!
Wiley Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Stuart the way you conduct yourself on this site in my view is A1. have to agree

The White Rapido Man Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 ditto to all the above.... there are always hecklers.....I have encountered them myself on here..... I think one can only put it down to jelousy.......... I love looking at birds for sale....................and as I mentioned before,.....everything has a price....asnd if buyer and seller are happy..then whats is the big deal.....................this is a basic principle economics.... :-/ .....................good on you stuart for making the odd quid......and indeed contributing to the site...........top bloke!

rockinrick Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Stuart there is no need for you to explain yourself, the reputation you have on here will not be undermined by a couple of stupid comments!! i have to agree , the word jelousy comes to mind m8 when i read the idiots posts 8) 8)
Dougie Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Must say that every thing I have bought from Stuart has been 1st class. If I wasn't satisfied I would say so. Stuart is always keen to help. Bought a cock bird and he supplied me with a Hen at a really good price. I bought these birds because I wanted them, nobody forced me to buy them.If they were not for sale on PB I would not have them. So keep up the good work Stuart all the best.
Guest Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Yes, totally agree with Dougie. I have bought from Stuart in the past, although not via pb. I was extremely pleased with the birds. Definately got value for money!
jimmy white Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 i have purchased pigeons from stuart ,, very pleased indeed with them , value for money ,i would say , if hes donating to pb,[,,keep donating stu ;D,], the members are happy with the birds they purchase ,,,,,, stuart is happy with his adverts , all happy :) nowt wrong with that ,,,,i just wonder how many members have donated for the service pb gives them i, for one have paid my way [it costs money to run the forum]so all you scoffers ;D ;D ;D get your hand in your pocket and send at least something p,s out of the few ive purchased ,ive given the yb,s away , 2 winners reported , differant members
Ronnie Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Got to agree with all the post about Stuart being a top bloke on here. But as for selling birds ,a perspective buyer should have the right to ask questions about the bird he or she is interested in.The Naysayers and hecklers should be stopped but genuine parties who are interested should be able to ask questions.Opinions should be kept to yourself if not asked for.
THE FIFER Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 keep up the good work Stuart, ur doing fine by the site,
