Yes he won the yb Nat, 2nd Nat was a Brinkman x Theelen for a fancier in the same club, the sire came from me and the dam from David Strain, its a bit tragic as the fancier concerned took along time to register the pigeon.

Great flying for anyone who recorded a day bird.

Hi Stewart, just a bit of info, you have 3 hours over here to register your pigeon unless you have to travel more than 50 miles to the centre then you have 4 hours so as far as i know no one has done anything wrong, the best bird won it on the day.

The guy who timed the pigeon has very poor eyesight and it went into the wrong loft, he had to get the club sect to come and time the bird!!! Wasnt taking anything way from anyone and the guy who is 2nd is over the moon so well done to eveyone especailly the winner!!!!

The Blue Riband YB National was flown from Sennen Cove on Thursday liberation having been delayed for one day due to strong winds on the Irish Sea. Just short of 1,400 young pigeons the cream of all Ireland were competing for pools and prizes of £16,000. For the past few years we have had an old Hens Nat on the same day and for this 470 birds were competing for almost £3,000. The total convoy was released at 7.45am in a Light North West wind and the Irish Sea was to be a Northerly wind 10-15mph. A difficult race was always expected and just short of 40 birds were recorded on the day, by lunchtime on Friday the total was around 90. Ron Williamson of the Bondhill Soc in Portadown timed his 4 year old Pencil Blue hen at 6.01pm to record velocity 869 for the 304 miles and take 1st Open INFC in the Old Hens Nat. Runner-up was Paul Jones of Skerries followed by Belshaw & Anderson of Derriaghy. We had a photo finish in the YB National with probable winner C & L Woodside of Ballyclare just ahead of clubmate Andy Gault both lofts doing velocity 844, after both lost time. Former Kings Cup winner Allan McDonald will be 3rd Open flying into Portadown Invitation. C & L Woodside who have previously been INFC Nat Champions but never won a National race, timed their young Blue hen at 7.01pm flying 324 miles into Ballyclare. With so few birds home (only 9 young birds in Northern Ireland on the day), it was unbelievable the finish would be so close.
