klinkley Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 I have visit my garden, some also nest: robins, goldfinches, greenfinches, longtailed tits, blue tits, great tits, dunnocks, thrush, blackbird, collard dove, house sparrow, green woodpecker, wren, wood pigeon. Had chiffchaff last year, but haven't seen it this year, although have heard it. It costs me more to feed the wild birds than it does my pigeons!!!!!! : :
Guest Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 I have a resident pair of blackbirds and robins. Didn't notice any youngsters this year tho, had a cat problem ... on top of the magpies. Sparrows visit quite regularly during their breeding season, pigeons down feathers seems to be highly prized. Had a couple of brightly coloured birds [finch, don't know which type] also visit, seemed interested in insects around the loft eaves. Sky is also usually full of swifts at this time of year - well named - saw a small hawk darting after one or two, not agile enough to catch any.

Pompey Mick Posted September 5, 2007 Report Posted September 5, 2007 I've had a couple of pair of blackbirds feeding during their breeding season, they love sultanas, they can pick up a nice beakful. Also the sparrows after the feathers, but now it's just starlings.
