Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 Just been reading the March 1967 pigeon news and gazette, and i found one of Bilco's write-ups!
ticeye Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 are you not going to tell us what it was about?
Ian McKay Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 Bet he is pleased you have let us all know how OLD he is ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Cheers Bilco
kev01293 Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 bilco certainly isnt a novice like myself but i always look forward to reading his articles, i like to think ive learnt something from reading them and no he didnt pay me for writing this ;D ;D
me Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 no offence meant at all but has Bilco ever timed a doo in worth talking about. Not being cheeky I am genuinely interested.
paddymac Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 I don't know if Bill has ever timed a pigeon, but his wealth of knowledge as regards the health of the pigeons is second to none. I'm sure I speak for a lot of fanciers who he has helped through-out the years. Keep up the good work Bill. ;)
Blue Chequer Posted March 12, 2007 Report Posted March 12, 2007 I think I have read quite recently that he is in Hospital at the moment. don't know how serious or what. He could certainly talk the talk.
kev01293 Posted March 12, 2007 Report Posted March 12, 2007 if bill is in hospital i wish him a speedy recovery as im sure others do
Guest Vic Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 Bilco in my own mind, whether he raced a good pigeon or not, stands head and shoulders above some of the PHONIES that are ruining this wonderous sport of ours.I have never met Bilco, but admire his wit and knowledge of the sport in general. I would rather listen to Bilcos meandrings of the past, than any of our so called " new generation" can offer. Come on Bilco, Tune in, PLEASE! Vic.
Guest Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 Yep he was on here not so long ago on 'Old Hand' thread, seems Bilco was Old Hand in the 1970's. Already given away his age. Read a line too in BHW a week or so ago that he was in hospital ... hope all is well.
Roland Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 When I startd, - family had them when I was a lad, - back in 1985 I wused to get the Pigon mags and every week 'Bilco' was the first thing I read. Even read he's short stories later when given some back copies. Was a gem... A rough diamond! Nah just a diamond lol.
stevebelbin Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 It was through Bilco's column that got me using DMG, great stuff ;D. Very funny column aswell
Wiley Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 he posted up on another pigeon website only a couple of days or so,so he must be out of hospital?
Guest Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 A few words of thanks to Bilco: last year he rang me and said come over and have a look at these birds , you’re welcome to any you fancy; well there was a Ch C I had fancied a while before and when later I left he was in my basket (with a few others),he originates from Alf Rothwell. He was the sire of the YB we had from Lamballe on Saturday to be well up in the BBC. I’ve been in correspondence with Bill since the late seventies and he has always shown me kindness, we have on the very odd occasion had a difference of opinion but once discussed it has been sorted and forgotten. He has been one of the most informative pigeon journalists of the last half century long may he continue. Thank you Alan ( for Franks & Baker)
Guest Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 On behalf of the Barkel family, i would like to wish Bilco a speedy recovery. May you return to the fold in double quick time Bill!! Sincere best wishes, Dave Barkel
