Hi,

there are many arguments for and against darkness personally i beleive darkness is a very good system to use

to compete at the later young bird races with your birds in full tact darkness is a must

from our own experience it does not affect out yearlings as we have had a few sucesses with our yearlings including racing pau and dax

but i suppose many people hae tried it although it is very important to get it correct otherwise you could have problems

cannot see the point racing young birds on the darkness system, yes if you have plenty of races over 200 miles ,we only have two a season.

i see plenty of fanciers turning up with their darkies at the first race come end of the season two hundred mile race they never send them.

keep them natural keep them healthy .

Darkness System is a great system and if you want to compete with young birds you have to be on it. you have fanciers saying that as yearlings they will not be any good. I think this is a load of rubbish as I know top fanciers who win with yearlings which have been on the darkness the year before. But everyone has their own views on this
