THE PRIEST Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 Im going to try it myself next year. Hoping i can race the full young bird program as i have not been able to for the last few years due to my young birds moulting heavy after about 4 races.
andrew Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 Hi, there are many arguments for and against darkness personally i beleive darkness is a very good system to use to compete at the later young bird races with your birds in full tact darkness is a must from our own experience it does not affect out yearlings as we have had a few sucesses with our yearlings including racing pau and dax but i suppose many people hae tried it although it is very important to get it correct otherwise you could have problems
Guest pigeon_lad Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 never turned back since i started using darkness was one of the first fanciers in the area to use it years ago after visiting a loft in belgium of course everyone thought i was mad but its definatly caught on
KSANDERSON Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 cannot see the point racing young birds on the darkness system, yes if you have plenty of races over 200 miles ,we only have two a season. i see plenty of fanciers turning up with their darkies at the first race come end of the season two hundred mile race they never send them. keep them natural keep them healthy .

madmaxlofts Posted September 25, 2007 Author Report Posted September 25, 2007 can anybody pm me please with the system ov darkness thats worked for them cheers all
Guest Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 Darkness System is a great system and if you want to compete with young birds you have to be on it. you have fanciers saying that as yearlings they will not be any good. I think this is a load of rubbish as I know top fanciers who win with yearlings which have been on the darkness the year before. But everyone has their own views on this
Guest Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 was on darkness in 2002, won 5 out of 6 club races and 2x1st feds 2x2nd feds. plus many more.in 2003 i lost the the lot 16 of them all gone b4 they got to 250 miles maybe i was just unlucky :-/
swilcox Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 Feathers will always tell on those last 3 races!!!!
