You obviously have not been reading the posts properly. Most of the members and the webmaster have highlighted the fact that Coxy cannot be banned because in doing so he will just come back as someone else and cause the same problems. The same goes for banning his IP address, which would not work as these addresses can easily change. You have also missed the posts about Coxy being blacklisted.

 

This site is properly run and it's people like Coxy that ruin it for others. Also with the Coxy problem, the best thing that the members can do is support Dovescot in reporting Coxy to the RPRA, Police and any other authority that can properly deal with this matter.

sorry your leaving majorpet, and to be honest feel like joining you!! im sure somthing could be done to get him off the site with ip address etc? but no 1 seems interested, and post get locked or deleted, so he will do what he did last time, wait 3/4 months till no trace of old posts, then bingo, loads of new members to con!! > >

Pigeonpete, I agree with getting him off the site with IP addresses but banning the IP addresses wouldn't work, as they are dynamic meaning that they change everytime you connect to the internet (think of the members that have two accounts on here).

It is wrong to say that no decision was made on Coxy. Webmaster posted his decision and his reasons.

 

Do a search for any post by Coxy and you'll find

The Webmaster does have the ultimate power, but at what ever age he is then surely he can't know everything, therefore surely he is not beyond chriticism or capable of making mistakes

I read this forum a couple of times everyday and its one of the best available and I feel everyone of you should be thankfull to Richard for all the hard work he has put into this site.

 

The sad thing is that Richard cannot be held responsible for every post on the forum and banning this lad is just not as easy as some suggest.

 

Sadly this "sport" of ours is no different to any other walk of life ,in that there will be con men who prey on the vunerable and those who take advantage of the ill informed ...

 

What really scares me though is that a lot of people still percieve pigeon fanciers as "a league of gentlemen"...wake up and smell the coffee because the sport has been full of con men for years...long before the advent of the internet.

 

One suggestion I would make, is that when a new starter or novice joins the forum they be assigned a "mentor".. who could give advice when needed and if need be make checks if pigeons are going to be bought ...simple and costs nowt

But though reading all about this sad affair wondering if all fanciers who want to sell via this site should register as sellers through mods and webmaster who can check them out before allowing posts offering sales. Have a display on all there post saying registered seller. Obviously sales done via pms cannot be avoided but if all novices look out for the registered seller mark then no who can trust. Maybe if there is any negative feedback from the sale then webmaster can be informed and the seller can be reviewed and if neccesary taken off regitered seller list. I realise this sounds like turning site in to ebay but have noticed alot more sale threads lately so may cut them down.

Lets get this back to a fun site as i have had laughs reading some threads. And get it back to helping each other out. DO NOT lets one persons actions destroy it please.

im 99% sure that he already has idea,s to come back on as a new member(if he already hasnt).

i think it would be a good idea for all sellers to be registered and have feedback as u suggested.

this will only make it a better experience for those buying from this site.i also believe that any transactions/sales should have a percentage of the sale ,given back to the site as in normal day auctions.this may be as little or as much as the members/webmaster agrees on.

as this i believe is a good site to sell from and better then advertising in a local paper.

Coxy has been BLACKLISTED FROM THE SITE and this is as much as can be done

But I in no way believe it will stop him, there are loads of ways he can get back on the site, ideas withheld because this would help him and probably knows and uses them already, its so easy, and also believe he will try and con his way out of this one

His parents are just as bad and will help him in any way they can turn it round to be anybody but Coxy's fault

It is with keeping this information on Coxy's account that seriously helps the process. Banning/removing him from the forum could be alikened to; being in the front room, switching off the light, putting sunglasses on and then expecting to find the dog!

'Website News & Views' is the place to post ideas, I'm not guarenteed to read every other post on every other board.

 

We all have our 'dafty' moments, and I wouldnt hold them against anyone. The members are one of the sites biggest assets.
