DOVEScot Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 I heard that rockets were a great deterrent for hawks circling around the lofts £20 for 18 at Aldi's worth a try, especially the cluster banging ones, just make sure the pigeons are in
thunderboult Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 i've been using them for 2 years they don't hang about when fire 1 of them in their direction, i one's i buy are £5 for 4 from lidl and you get 2 explosions with them
FOXY Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 It is illegal to fire rockets (the fire work type ) all year round but you are legally entitled to do so if it is the rockets that you can purchase for scaring birds purchased from the proper place, ie: agriculture suppliers.
Guest Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 not just for scaring hawks you should see my pour wee dog when they go off :-/

REDCHEQHEN Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 Was it with a rocket ;D ;D ;D No - 'they' stuck the boot in several times - whilst parked round the corner from the police station :P :'( :'( :'( The point being - unless you know whose firing the rockets off ( like a neighbour) the police are not going to be interested - they want you to do the work for them as they seem to have lost the ability to detect
Fair Play Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 No, but they will get one if they ever turn up ;D ;D Very true always stopping kids in the street asking for info but when they get it on a personal basis they tell you there must be a witness > > >
Guest Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 Agree with Foxy that there was a crackdown on fireworks, only allowed certain times of the year and certain times during day. We moved here 13/14 years ago and couldn't believe the numpties that let them off 24/7 - yes, during the bloody night too - last year I think was the 1st curtailment and there is a big difference around here anyway. Bonfire night, New Year Bells, Big in Falkirk Music Festival and that's about it. Interested to know difference between firework and bird scarer rockets? Falkirk has an annual fireworks display in Callander Park, about 1/4 mile away from me. The stuff that they lob into the air to explode above us shakes the house, you can feel the percussion waves from it, and at Garden Festival in Glasgow around 20 years ago, fireworks display went badly wrong for the guy that was setting them off, he blew his leg off..,
thunderboult Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 i bet there's not much differance in the rockets i use to the bird scarer ones ,exept maybe the price the one's i use cost 80p

Big business at weddings noo as well :-/
Guest Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 What about the Edinburgh festival? Big business at weddings noo as well :-/ We don't have an Edinburgh Festival in Falkirk, and weddings, er what are they? ;D
DOVEScot Posted October 20, 2007 Author Report Posted October 20, 2007 We don't have an Edinburgh Festival in Falkirk, and weddings, er what are they? ;D Aye and we dinnae have a Falkirk festival in Fife, so plenty room for letting off rockets Weddings, noo that is another mystery, stranger than Harry Potter
jimmy white Posted October 21, 2007 Report Posted October 21, 2007 joking apart ,, the" bird scarer" :-/ rockets would be well worth letting off b4 any libs ,,,,,at least it may give the pigeons a start to clear,[but would still have to run the gauntlet on the way home]
