Guest j v ward Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 how many races do you give youre pigeons before sending them to above 250 mile race
Roland Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 0 to 1, depend sex, expierence and age, and of course nest circle. 1 or 2 50 mile tosss and watch a hen on 14 day eggs go. other wise any amount. The most important thing is loft fitness.
Guest Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 My 06 birds have only had 3 races in thier life 1 from 222mls & 2 from 270 although as ybs trained 50 miles s & 50 miles n & a few 50 mile training tosses n&s before racing this year

me Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 how many races do you give youre pigeons before sending them to above 250 mile race Depends on the bird obviously but a distance bird could be started at a race beyond 250miles all other things being equal.
sammy Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 Depends on the bird obviously but a distance bird could be started at a race beyond 250miles all other things being equal. i yir a canny lad ME
Guest Posted November 11, 2007 Report Posted November 11, 2007 Two races from between 50 to 100 then 250 four weeks before 500 plus.Week before 500 should have 5 training tosses 30 to 50 miles. bringing bird into form for distance.
Guest j v ward Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 i have found that hens do not need as much racing or training as cocks befor the longer races
Guest Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 i think it depends on individual birds some need more than others the secret is knowing when not to train
Fair Play Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 I would surmise that like any other sport there is danger of over training pigeons can't call halt. It is therefore important to keep your records up to date
Guest Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 with regards to training i have a 04 cock that i was gifted as a yb i kept him for stock but had him flying out this bird never bred much so this year he went into the basket for the first time in his life he had 3 50 mile tosses then 3 channel races one at 222mls and 2 at 270 mls if no restriction next year he will go 500+ so i think it is an individual thing
Mark Bulled Posted November 13, 2007 Report Posted November 13, 2007 Widow Cocks go to every race up to 250. Only ever get a break maybe a week or 2 before a real big one (500+)
