Thought the 'fighting fund' had disbanded, Roland, now that RPRA had taken up the legal challenge?

And of course if Hillary Benn & Co don't reply to RPRA legal correspondance .....  that would burst anybody's balloon, hot air or no :-/

frank how dare you ask a relevant question. this fund was going to be the saviour of the pigeon game. fundraising started. nothing else has been heard. how much was gathered? where is it and what is going to happen to it? who is in control of the moneyif there is any? what are the criteria for using the money? this forum was actively used to raise funds. many of the posters hailed the set up of the fund. information on the current position should be relatively easy to find as many supporters are posting daily. funny that roland`s original post did not bring a barrage of response. what is going on?

Whilst we are at it.... The fighting fund and the RPRA doing it in stead is just a ploy as far as I am concerned! Just an appleasementno more and certainly nothing less! They know, as well as I do and you do, that they will play for time to get it to court! Then appeals by the goverment if the RPRA won the case, then again etc. till nigh 5 years are up and a new light and way forward emmerges! So all in all it is old hat being tattled!

Now a PR. Firm harming an image is different - like the rapture problem - bringing the astrocitiess to the 'Voting' public's notice, and the old dears wills being misappropiated via them leaving the money - like their collection tins - to save the Garden birds etc.! THEN AND ONLY then will goverments, and RSPB take any notice!

So a PR FIRM should be sought and a Tory  / Back - Benchers / Lobbyist should be put into actions... and a darn sight less money and a darn sight more effective that the RPRA playing 'Tootsies with the goverment (DAFRA) AND playing us all for mugs!

The fighting fund disbandment was not only the subject of a thread on here, but also of a letter from the organisers to the BHW at the time. The reasons given were RPRA taking up the case, and organisers said the contributions were being refunded.

I think there have been a few developments which may help our case, not least of which is NFU intention to sue DEFRA over escape of F&M virus from government research centre into the wild, coming as it does on top of DEFRA's own financial difficulties arising from the compensation payments for the various Animal Disease culls, which apparently comes out of their own budget.:-

Further possible courses of action come from a Confederation initiative which sees us now part of a British Union of sporting & recreation bodies [bHW Nov 16th, pp54/55 'Membership of CCPR'] : "whose aims are to influence Government and politicians by [a] recommending legislative issues on issues affecting sport & recreation by submitting views on any relevant item of legislation at all stages of progress thro Parliament - from consultation to enactment [c] by providing briefings to MPs and Ministers on a wide variety of sports-related issues."

"CCPR has become an effective advocate of of Sport in both Houses. It seeks to to develop effective relations with both Houses, as well as European Parliament. There is no legal basis for sport in Treaty of Rome and therefore sport has no official standing when it is discussed in European Parliament. CCPR was instrumental in setting up the  European Parliament  Sports Inter Group which provides a forum of MEPs and their assistants to come together and discuss matters of sport & recreation across Europe. The objective is to raise the profile of sport within the European Parliament and ensure it has equal status with culture and the media."

get real bruno. we are a sideshow with no economic power and very little resources at our disposal. if the nfu take on defra they will have a hard job proving anything as the source of the problem is only the opinion of a so called expert. an other so called expert with a differing and oposite opinion blows everything wide open. on the issue of putting our case to the powers that be has this not been done with no effect. we funded heavily a piece of research and flew in the face of the findings going down the west route. another scottish fed has decided to go back to the old route next year 2008. our ruling body in scotland stands back and says nothing. this same ruling body the shu, poured enourmous resources into this and now look like complete fools as these feds ignore the findings. as i said get real.

Yep we are being lead' ....  up the garden path'! and soon will be left out to dry.Make no mistake about that. the RPRA Cowing cap in hand is just a proven, tried and tested, formatt no better than 'Wait and See' , 'Abide our time' scenario for never the twainwill meet.

Like the Raptures and etc. unless a voice is putting forward our case WHICH might be worth a 'Vote catching' view based on real truths, then we will - and most deserve to be ' Blowing in the wind'!

DEFRA have reported to the World Organisation for Animal Health [OIE] in one of their mandatory reports on notifiable disease outbreak, that the source of the 'original' F&M Outbreak in UK was 'Laboratory Escape'. So DEFRA having made the cause official are hardly in a position to argue retrospectively with the findings of their own investigation..

is there not more than one organisation involved? not only a governement body. enough room there to make the job of identifying the culprit impossible. the resources needed to sue will even outweigh the pockets of the NFU i suggest.
